Hi, looking at buying my first Pontiac GTP. Been a long time fan of the cars, but don't know much about them as I've been around Mustangs mostly...my weekend car is an 01 Cobra with Vortech S/C. So I'm hoping the GTP can fulfill my family needs and performance needs while the Cobra sits in the garage.

This GTP will replace my current DD, and I'm hoping will fit my personality more than my 98 Mirage I have now.

    Here's the GTP:

Owner says it also has a shift kit. Is it a good deal? Should I be worried about the tranny? I've heard the trans can be iffy and looks like guy just did tranny oil change so makes me wonder if covering bigger issue or just done as routine.

My wife likes the GTP a lot and so do I, I think she's just scared it'll turn into my next big project...which it prolly will! If its a good deal that is.

Shift kit is just to firm the shifts up a bit and puts a little less wear on the clutch

    But

A shift kit and pan drop could also be done because of a slip issue.

I would test drive it of course.

Oh and make sure it was just a pan drop and not a full on trans flush.

According to current owner he just dropped the pan, changed filter and synthetic oil, but did NOT flush the system because he heard it can knock debris loose.

This was all done, including the shift kit at 90k. Said he added the shift kit to improve reliability of the transmission, but that he's never had a shifting problem. I kept my question vague so as not to imply I was looking for a certain response.
