Ok I've had some plans in my head,I'm wanting a new project to build on,I'm thinking a 2nd gen ford explorer (95-01) 5.0 or 4.0,I really want the 5.0 but I ran across a forum today and some guy said the m90 sc will bolt right on it,he didn't specify wether he had the 4.0 or 5.0 or the year, can somebody help,or do they make a stock sc 5.0 mustang because the sc will work,I can't get a def answer,it's either going to be the explorer or a Montana sc idk yet.

There was no "stock" S/C'd Mustang in those years that I'm aware of unless it was a Roush or Saleen. And even at that, after 1995 the Mustang got the 4.6L V8, not the 5.0.

I'd go with the 5.0L Exploder and then slap any old kit for a Mustang on it and go. You'd probably have to custom fab some things to make it work in the Explorer's engine bay. Also look to see if hood clearance would be an issue. I'm sure if you google it someone out there has thrown an S/C onto an Explorer at some point.

Would seem like a lost cause to me, its a already super heavy vehicle and crappy designed vehicle, adding a few pounds of boost won't do it much.

And the fact that everything would be a completely custom and then how would you even tune it.

I'd just throw some valve springs and a cam in a 97'+ 5.0 explorer with maybe some exhaust work. Still be slow but would at least sound good. Get an awd one and have a neat dd.

If you're really ambitious the whole drivetrain will bolt into a similar year ranger. Awd v8 ranger with 3.73s could be fun.

If i were to do a car it would be a mid 80s caravan with the wood grain sides with a srt4 swap. That would be fun.

there are LOTS of other sleepers out there than an explorer...lol
a w-body would probably be a better platform to work with than an explorer haha.
you can also build a grand prix, cutlass, or regal from the 80's.
s10's make good sleepers to the non car guy, but car guys usually know what they are capable of and what people do to them.

S10 and a built 350 like ginseng said. Bolts right in from what I've heard, or at least somewhat. Great sleepers

Ok,I got my Grand Prix that needs tlc,I planned on buying another parts car gtp and fixing mine up,I can get them on copart running so then ill have a extra l67 laying around if mine blew in my gtp but I'd like to have something with the l67 that hardly anybody has did, really want a 95 gp gt 4dr,they are rare and only made in that year but at 94-96 gp 4dr,that would be my dream car literally, then if that didn't plan out the Montana with the l67,ya I do like explorers but fords have crazy electrical problems sometimes so I'm pontiac threw and threw
