I used 85w-140 because it was supposed to help with noisy transfer cases...which it did
yeah, those t cases do growl a lot. mine made some cool sounds as it blew apart, it had atf fluid in it, i know because the snow on the ground looked like cherry Slurpee had been dumped all over the road.

How much metal was at the bottom of the case. If you didnt clean it all you did is help it go boom
No metal found in mine! But it deff is a growler
Nice truck. I always liked the hood ornaments on those. I wouldn't worry about a cummins swap. That is a big undertaking and always costs more than you expect. Those 360's are healthy. If it runs fine, stick with it.
Yeah it will need valve guide seals soon but other then that runs good sounds really good
