My POS Torrent has several issues. Really starting to hate this thing, lol.

Here is a list of what doesn't work:

    -High Beams
    -Fog Lights
    -Blinkers
    -Tailgate won't unlock
    -Unlock/Lock switches on the door
-Music stays on after car is off and my drivers side door is open
-Says my door is open sometimes when it's shut
-Sometimes the dome light doesn't go on when I enter the car

My key fob can unlock and lock the doors, except my tailgate. My tailgate can only unlock with the key fob, since there is no key hole or a way to open it from the inside.

All fuses and relays were checked, along with the wiring between the doors and car. I read that this is a common issue with these cars, but the wires were not spliced there, or anywhere else where they are visiable, like they are for other people with this issue. I don't know what else it could be, I am thinking the wires are spliced maybe behind the actual door panel, or behind inside the dash. I am leaning more towards it being behind the dash. Otherwise I am clueless as to what is going on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It is only accessories that have issues, nothing motor or tranny wise.

I also forgot to mention, my wipers only work on medium setting no matter what I have it set at. When I turn them off, they don't go back down, they stop whereever they are at. They sometimes even stop and lag for a few seconds randomly.

maybe you dont know that the bcm controls body functions like accesories and such. pcm is motor;s pc. so my answer still stands, possible bad or failing bcm

Wasn't aware there was even a bcm, I read that as pcm..what does that even stand for and where is it? I have little knowledge about this stuff, hence why I am here asking.

Headlights, foglights, and blinkers could be a bad multi function switch its common.

Tailgate could be a bad actuator.. which is a pain since u obviously cant open it.

Also door latches are cheap and often cause the door open errors. Lights staying on etc.

    Fraschy,

"rperry435" offers some good suggestions. Has the vehicle been inspected for these issues? Do they occur constantly or intermittently?

After more research I think it's the BCM, since it's everything that is specificaly controlled by it. Everything is too random and spread apart to be a switch. And I am pretty sure the only thing that might remotely be a coinsidence is the wiper issue going on besides.

It is constant, everything has just completely stopped working. Besides the wipers that sometimes freeze, and work at a medium setting no matter what I set it on. GArrrRRR I hate my car.

Give it a shot youve got nothing to lose but a few hundred bucks. Just a little info though.

It WILL have to be programmed at a dealer or shop with a Tech2 or MDI and TIS. It must be a Brand New BCM. a junkyard part will NOT work.

You can expect an hour or two from the labor involved between installing (its below the radio in front of the shifter if I remember correctly) and programming.

GL. Lets us know what the outcome is.

I took off the front cover on my console and looked at the bcm. I see where it is, and tried figuring out what wires were what..but can't.

I am pretty sure I ruled out the fact it isnt a switch. The fog lights share a switch with my rear wiper and washer buttons. Those work. What confuses me, if it all leads to the same place, why are my fog lights not working, while my wiper stuff does? Can part of my bcm just be shot?

I read online someone that had the same problem replaced the BCM, and still had the same issues because the car has four computers in it..not sure how true that is.

Yes it has more than one (engine control module, brake control) but only the bcm.. (body control module) controls body functions. Yes only a portion of a bcm can go bad but theres no repairing them.

A wiring diagram and multi meter will make it easiest to diagnose if the bcm is receieving a proper signal from the switch(s)

Is there a fog light button with a light or a dash light thay comes on with you turn them on to at least know if they are supposed to be on?

I still say there is a bad drivers door latch. Causing your radio, door open notifications, and interior issues.

If your fog light switch is on the same stalk as the Headlighy/blinker stalk im sure its also bad. Its called the multi function switch. If your fog light button is above the radio its easy to test just unplug the switch. momentarily jump the two pins together and see if the fogs come on.

My radio works fine. The fog light button isn't near my highbeam/headlight/blinker stalk switch. However, my highbeams don't work, and I cannot turn my auto daytime lights off during the day.

This is where my fog light button is. When I took off the front radio dash peice to see my bcm, I seen that the Fog Lights/Rear Wiper/Rear Washer Fluid buttons are part of one switch. Only my fogs don't work. Yes, when they work, a symbol light on my speedo dash comes on. Same with the high beams. But since everything stopped working, even when I push the fog light button, or flick my high beams on, no light on my speedo dash comes on either.

So I have all these random, non connected switches through my vehicle that don't work, which makes me really think it's the BCM.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the fog light switch panel above your radio has different plugs on the back..as in more than one?

To see if your fog switch is just bad pin 4 is a orange wire on that panel. When pushed it momentarily throws a ground. To help verify the orange wire the ground is black pin 5 right next to it.

I know a lot of times when the BCM is bad the radio locks up...just a thought

Also I thought the torrent/equinox only had the auto/parking light/on option? Maybe they changed it in 07? I know if its running and in Drive the DRL should be on you won't be able to turn them off if its the same as an 06 which I'm pretty sure they changed so I dunno for sure.

I could turn my Auto Lights off during the day all the time before all this stuff went crazy. It has Auto, Parking lights, and Head Lights. Behind my fog light switch, it's one connecter that gets plugged into the 3 buttons. They don't each have their own connector. I will try your idea and see what happens!

This is probably a silly question, but could a bad battery be causing these issues? For some reason my Torrent won't even start now, 99% sure its because of a dead battery, as the radio don't work and what does work is slowly dieing (like my dome lights when switched on). Everything should of been turned off after 10 minutes, but im guessing the battery died before that.

Thanks for your patience and help on me with this! I really appreciate it.

This may be no relation, but might help..Idk. when I had my g6, the radio and lights shut off when door would open...then that stopped working and everything would stay on and wouldn't shut off till it drained the battery (very quickly also and no matter what I did, the car wouldn't shut radio or lights off). I was at work when it happened and I had to leave the car run until the dealer could come get it just so it would start up without a jump. Came to be the door switch that controls those functions and also needed a new battery.

Sorry your having such bad luck with the new car. Hopefully you can get it figured out

    Thanks, me too!

Your old issues sound familiar! Were those the only two things that stopped working? Was it the unlock/lock switch that needed to be replaced? Or was it a different switch somewhere else inside the door?

Could one switch not working effect multiple other switches from not working?
