The Aztek was a good idea that failed hard somewhere between the concept of it, and the design/ production stages.

Oh wow, that bottom one doesn't look nearly as ugly!

I just want to cry now. The dealership called me back saying the BCM is $300, and it would take 3 hours of labor. It pisses me off so bad because I could by the part for under $200 and install it myself, I just need someone that can reprogram it. And they want to replace the BCM without replacing the windsheild wipor motor to see if it is in the BCM first. They also said that it "needs" a GM BCM .."especially since it's newer." I KNOW how much bull**** that is, and I KNOW they are trying to rip me off.

Yep, I knew it. The BCM off rockatuo IS Acdelco. Stupid ****ers.

Just sayin LOL. Hope she gets the thing fixed and not raped by the dealer. I have worked at dealerships and I can't stand dealing with service writers with just enough know how to be dangerous. When I did a write up on a RO for the service writer to sell, I only tried to sell what the ride needed. It's upsetting to see them say "Well we gotta fix this before we try this". Just tell the customer you have no clue and that your trying at least.

    Thanks for the correction Fraschy.

LOL I am a she, not a he. The dealership still never called me back yet. Hopefully I can get this thing back tomorrow. Unless they said they can do it all for a decent price, I refuse to have them touch it.

First off not all dealerships are trying to rip people off. Ask around if you don't know. In my area there are half a dozen GM dealerships I could take my vehicle too. I know the ones to take my business (aka warranty work on my new Malibu LTZ) and the ones not too.

I'm really not sure why it would take 3 hours labor to switch a bcm and program it in the torrent since it's easily accessible and programming takes 20min top.

I also agree with buying Original GM Modules and Sensors. Autozone, Advance, Napa, etc have a much higher failure rate out of the box and sometimes that can be costly especially with labor on programming or personal time.

Buying from the dealership or shop with a tech2/MDI will be more likely to warranty the part if it fails within one year.

Just my thoughts, I'm glad to hear you got it taken care of. The the torrent is actually a nice vehicle sorry it hasn't treated you so well.

I work on all types of vehicles everyday.. And with that I also know the ones I would never own. lol

Most dealerships are scams. They overcharge for just about everything. Products and services are at LEAST doubled in price, sometimes trippled, even more. I know people who work at dealerships that even agree. And as long as the product meets OEM standards it shouldn't matter the brand. Thanks for the help!

Dealerships are definitely more costly sorry to hear you have some shady as dealerships who like to rip people off.

There is a national guideline of how long each job takes and how many hours of labor a peticular repair takes. If they charge more it can easily be a lawsuit. So while labor is always more per hour and the parts are usually at list price there's only so much one can charge for a repair period.

You are horribly mistaken when it comes to "oem standards" and it does matter when it comes to modules and Sensors. I've been diagnosing and fixing vehicles for 10yrs now and trust me it matters when it comes to things like sensors the most. When you get experience anywhere near that let me know how you feel about bs aftermarket parts. Don't get me wrong I use plenty of them just not certain ones lol

When the parts don't meet gm specification they go into a separate bin where places like az and a.a. Bid and repackage them as their own... They are inferior from the beginning.

I generally us ACDelco products. And they are always at least double the price, often times even MORE than double, at the dealership. Of course a GM Dealership won't use any other product but their own, that would be silly if they didn't. But they also charge MUCH more for the same part that I could go and get myself. I think people can agree that dealerships are automaticly going to be more expensive than taking it to a regular repair shop. I just got lucky and ended up getting a great deal since I just bought this vehicle from them about 3 months ago and it already had such a problem. I am glad they ended up helping me out like that.

I only buy stuff off rockauto. My stepdad sometimes uses aftermarket products and I would not call them bull****, either would he. He has been working on cars much longer than 10 years as well.

I agree with not paying list price and getting your own part to save some cash but I was simply trying to say not all dealerships are theifs. I work at one of the best reputable electrical shops in Michigan many people bring there vehicle to us over the dealership. We let people bring their own parts because we know how the economy is. Obviously we can't warranty that part for you but it's an option we provide.

With aftermarket I specifically said electrical modules and sensors are in my do not buy list. I didn't say aftermarket parts are bad my car has lots of modifications many are improvements over oem.

Ex. 2004 enviy. Lady has a fuse blowing.. So instead of getting it fixed she just decided to put a bigger fuse in. Long story short underhood fire at the fuse box.. dealership wanted to charge her Thousands to replace body harnesses and new fusebox etc. She brings it to us we do a fuse box and harnesses cut out of a junkyard vehicle that she brought to to us and she's got a $500 bill. I see it happen everyday in my opinion the dealership is for the vehicles that have warranty

In the end I'm glad to hear you got everything worked out and hope the next vehicle you find treats you with less repair bills

Here's a shot of the envoy

Ouuch!!! I agree with what you are saying. I am glad my dealership cut me the deal in the end. Being able to bring your own part in is really handy, I don't know of any places around here that even allow that. Thanks for all your help!

That envoy has nothing to do with aftermarket OEM replacement parts. It was a failure to comprehend electrical systems.

That's like having the same person do the same thing to their home fuse box and blaming the electrical company.

Not sure of your exact point? I guess your right that has nothing to do with oem parts...? but anyways I was using the envoy as an example to a person bringing the car to a reputable shop not the dealership. Think before you speak.

Also it was the owners fault she put a bigger fuse in a spot that called for a much lower amperage rating. She even said she did. Fuses don't just continously blow and magically solve it by putting a bigger fuse in.

Keep up the good work though
