Haha that's why I'm buying the car BEFORE she changes her mind! :th_laugh-lol3: She hates my gp so hopefully she'll come around on this one.

I've been toying with the idea of stabbing an L67 in a U-body. I guess my definition of cool is a little unconventional.

That also sounds like a fun project to me! There's actually a few people who have done chevy ventures and the like! Good news on that one is that the bcm is the exact same one as in the gp, so you don't have to worry about it not communicating. Kuntzie actually did a montana and all he had to do was swap the fuse box and that was it! No tuning required. Best news of all is that the subframe and suspension is fully compatible with u-body and you can literally drop a L67 struts and all and plop it right in the u-body without fab. Only difference is the power steering rack has a different angle because of the vehicle height, but that's the only difference.

Hey! You could totally just sell the 3400 from your current montana build and just swap in a L67! :th_laugh-lol3:

Ah-ha! But Scotty remembers. Seems like so long ago. Yes, you are correct. That old K10 is what lead me to this place.

All low dollar toys here. No Scrooge McDuck in my family tree. Get wrenching on your project and we'll show you where to save some cash too!

Sounds like a plan to me!
Bad news is that the seller decided at the last minute to "gift the car to his father in law", so that's a no go, but I'll keep looking.... :th_shakinghead1:
Re: Future Aztec L67 swap?
Sorry to bump this from the dead but did this swap go anywhere?
I think the only thing I havent seen is an L67 behind an AWD trans van.
The other issues outlined here, ac lines, fuel lines, steering rack, PCM programming are ALL SOLVED since they are an issue for all of the Montana/Venture vans.
Therefore the class 2 comms lines are not an issue, you can use any L67 harness, its the PCM that defines how the data is sent and you will need a customized harness into teh van either way.
Simple rules
- keep the L67 harness mostly intact
- adapt only the c101 (round grey plug) to match the van connection
- adapt the c1/c2 plugs near fuse box (Repin) to match the van and use the VAN fuse box (do not use the GTP)
- keep van steering rack
- keep van ABS module since it communicates with the BCM
- upgrade fuel pump from GTP
- PCM tune needs to be Regal L67 tune, the GTP tune will run and drive but you will lose speedometer, tach, etc due to the data lines.
- custom AC lines
- PCM needs VATS off, VIN change
The only issue I had with the swap is the battery charging light always staying on the dash, and I am working to fix that by using a monte carlo / impala tune. You just need to be careful since transmission wiring is different internally between the years so it is not recommended to use a 2005 Impala L67 tune with a 2000 transmission for example. That was my experiment to turn off the lamp.
If anyone has any questions, you can reach out on here or on the Facebook W body groups, a lot of us run swapped minivans. Mine has been swapped for over 5 years with 80k+ km on the L67 swap.
You should be able to swap the L67 into any aztek/rendezvous/minivan.
All the best,
-C
