Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
2 m90 superchargers won't supply enough air for a 6.0 liter

Absolute nonsense...why bother having to play with an afc if you have tuning ability and can install another MAF that will meet your needs. AFC is useless crap in my eyes unless absolutely needed.
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
every maf will need to be scaled eventually, unless there is this secret maf I dont know about

They will supply plenty of air for a 6.0 with 5.3 heads and flattop pistons that doesn't rev over 5500. I put a M112 from a mustang on a stock LQ4 6.0 and it is a low rpm towing beast, and for under 2k its a bargain!
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
I'm not sure what MAF I'll run, I have on hand a LS3, LQ4, and the stock L67 MAF. I guess it depends on what TB I run. I have to weld the TB adapter to the intake tube anyways so I could put any TB or MAF. I do want simplicity so the stock setup may be the ticket. We'll cross that bridge when I get there.
I did order the fuel rails from an 06 L32, found it used for 50.00 from a salvage yard. I decided to run a returnless system with a corvette fuel filter.

yeah, 99+ maf in a 4" coupler (with 4" ID)
never needed an afc with a 2300 whipple at 3" pulley and 7k
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
ok then I will stick my maf in a giant tube then, yay me
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
Major change of plans! We've decided that the Subaru is going away. My wife told me that she doesn't like it anymore (the only reason I've kept the car is because she "loved" it!), so it's going away.... A lot less headache for me....so..... the L67 setup I have is probably going into a 2000 2wd S10 that I have, or in the 2004 Grand Prix GT I just bought with a blown engine. I think I'd rather have a L32 or a L26 in the 04', just to keep everything straight! If I decide to put the L67 in the S10 there will be more questions for sure! But that conversion should be a lot more straight forward that the Subaru. Thanks for all the help!

Id rather have the L67 with a Gen V than the L32. There is really no advantage to the L32 aside from the SLIGHTLY and I mean slightly better heads, actually many consider it a downgrade given the connecting rod design
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
L32 rods and pistons are better than L67

^^ your drunk, L67 or bust

you can either scale it mechanically by allowing for a larger sample volume than OEM, or you can scale it with a frequency reduction

heads are not really any better, just a new series of molds went online so your less likely to get a reworked mold head that has massive core shift, remember those head molds for the casting sand were in use from 93+ (first SII 3800 being in the 94 model year) so by 00+ they were pretty beatup.
an early mold 7 is a great head, a 99/00 mold 7 has nearly 1/4" core shift on the one end cylinder. the valves weren't better, just cheaper, same with the rods..... thanks bean counters.

pistons yeah, better anodizing and the skirt coating (that wears away quickly anyways), the rods were just cheaper to make/machine. Powdered metal forging is not stronger than cast, just more brittle.
its the only way that the fractured cap technology works...is by engineering a brittle rod that's barely a step above sintered metal construction.
ive seen thrown rod L36's where you have the cap/rod twisted into damn near a pretzel with the block/bore/pan/skirt thoroughly ****ed....you look at a thrown rod L26 and you find the rod in 8-400 pieces and barely a mark on the block...
ive seen this enough times that I don't like the PM stuff....at all

id rather find the L67/32 (steel pan L32's) that have the L67 cast rods with the L32 pistons/front cover

Question - LIM gaskets, I have set that came with my Felpro headset, but they are plastic. Are they any good, or do I need the metal style?

Use Fel pro Metal LIM gaskets or the GM aluminum LIM gaskets.
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
The FelPro ones that came with my kit are a hard black plastic with blue o-ring style gasket, no metal at all. Does anyone have the part# for the FelPro metal style?
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
Sorry - found them at ZZP. thanks.
Any good writups on porting the stock L67 TB?
Re: Swapping a 03' GTP SC 3.8 into my 07' Subaru WRX need advise!
The black plastic ones will still work just fine.
Any of the new coolants out there won't eat away the gaskets anymore. I still prefer the updated design but the plastic can still work if you need to use them.
