These show them better. Yesterday's pics showed it with the spoiler tips on and with their bottom tips trimmed for appearance. I also had to be sure the top edge of the spoiler makes a nice clean line.

Thanks gents. Whether we make the big show is still up in the air, theres a lot to wrap up yet. Didn't take the camera in today but spent it fitting the flares and it was fun doing a little fiberglass work although if those things just fit better, well... anyway we're moving it right along daily and it looks cooler after every step. A 1st gen Vette (single HLs, chromy inline 6) showed up today, and those Ford truck parts will be black with epoxy real soon. Meanwhile I gotta make tire clearance on the el Camino then do a weekend of family stuff. So just keep one eye peeled for more shiny.

Mike fired up a 39 Plymouth Thursday (flathead six) that had not run since he or I have been alive, nearly fifty years. Four holes were DOA no compression, points were shot (in stock at O'reilly's!) and it needed the starter in the trunk installed. Marvel Mystery Oil soaked the rings loose and after a week or so of that... holy crap it purrs like a kitten. Idles smooth. The half century old leaded carbon smell was intoxicating and that was a real treat for both of us. Soon as the brakes work, it will be ready to shakedown with a drive. FYI, this body that started in the '36 year was the first middle class car made of all steel with no wood in the body.

The boss pushed the primary tech on that firebird job into quitting after 8 yrs. I'm ready to quit too, its all take no give so pfft. Finally had to grab the horns on that job myself and fix fab fit issues "right now". It will look great, no worries there. Tore down to just the shell at the moment. Pathetic planning and greedy lies are something I'm getting used to, last year's 41 ford job was a carbon copy of this situation so I grow weary of it.

    Two lessons learned:

If you want someone to do a job for you, they must be granted sufficient authority to do so.
It is OK to expect your needs to be met, as long as the needs of others are also being met.

Its "in the paint shop" now, at least the body shell is. There are spots left to prime, and the main focus has been putting finishing touches on the fab work lately. Finally took a day off but this was how I left it yesterday. Theres maybe a third of the original steel remaining. Just another grey week on the 'junk thread unless I go dig in the 'bucket later. Gotta buff a Fiero tomorrow, fresh black paint job on that. It will be a change of pace anyway, been running wide open and fighting a brief illness so I'm fairly exhausted.

Well, thanks and maybe I will dig for more shiny to post. That Model A with the Stang reflection I showed earlier might be at the thing in downtown Wichita Sat nite if any of you are around there.

The custom fuel tank came, for the 'bird job. Looks like it fit OK, goes where a bump box would be. Fill neck in trunk jamb. It will be nice to see the body shiny because then the time for deciding and being critical has passed for the most part. When the day comes that I can see the fruit of all the labor, THEN the labor pain starts to fade and grinning can begin! When it roars to life and I see it move under it's own power, thats a big grin moment. Makes me want to feel her breath flapping my pants leg, y'know? Ah, to smell the smell and feel the vibe of a freshy. First time it carries you past the driveway, a build like this gives you that feeling like walking up to that pretty girl's door to pick her up because you finally got the nerve to ask her out and she accepted. Euphoric anticipation, satisfaction, glory. In that order. Those days are nearing.

Hey GPF-ers, developments to report and teasers because the firebird body shell gets painted tomorrow morning. Scotty I want it now so you'll have to scrap for it! Pack a lunch, bud.

Took a few snaps while painter man was laying down body sealer, epoxy primer, chip resistant coating, two kinds of Lizard Skin, primer-sealer, color, and clear. Its in the booth now, ready for the untextured areas to be shot. The finishes you see are-well I wasn't keeping track right then but everything is body color or black now. Inside will get the full sound deadening number and more than one kind since heat blocking is critical on this build. Just look how much body drop there is, its nuts! Gonna look wicked, stay tuned for shiny later.

Among other bizarre current dramas, one of our primary builders had a gas tank fall during installation. Car was on a lift and has the big sharp edges so... it meat cleaver-ed the front of his ankle. Not good, severed all the tendons there plus whatever else. It was a hard day of surgery for the doctor (same as my wrist doc) and our guy is down 12 weeks before putting weight on it to try it out. One-shot surgery so if he uses it at all, the damage won't be fixable.

BUMMER. Thats my bud, too. And I was already running fatigued from this car and busy life. No rest for the wicked. The wicked 72TA is about to be born from this humble 350 firebird though.

71, It was a plain stock Fiero GT with V6 and a side job. May not see that car again to get an after pic. There was still polish all over it last I saw. The opportunity to make it better wasn't completely passed up... it does have a coat or two of a red violet pearl over the black. So when its sunny out at least the color looks not stock. Its a chick's car and the paint job was a steal because her bro did it. If I ever see it clean, yea its pic worthy. Interior is in nicely preserved condition.

Scotty just u wait until them tubs n tunnel are stuffed with go-fast parts. Thats gonna be fun to look at.

Ah, the wet look... in Cyber Gray Metallic (late model Corvette color). I like it! Satisfied with the quarter lumps, and you'll get better peeks later on. Hard to imagine, but this thing ain't four feet tall when its together. So the angles you see will be different than these. Can't wait. The front end should be a real eye-popper, everybody likes a 70-3 firebird front end decked out with shaker, air deflectors, air dam, and fender vents and huggin the road.

I'll get back to random shiny-ness as soon as free time becomes a thing again. Gotta hustle to finish the rest of these parts up.

Oh and hey this was fun... made this piece to cover the pitted and heavily contoured (ugly) area where the battery tray used to rest in that 68 el Camino. Boss walked up and said "You gonna be our new whip-something-out-in-steel guy?". I says "What you need?" and got to play with cool toys. I mean tools. Actually used grandpa's century+ old 207 lb anvil for some of it. Just got that, and now its had another generation hammering on it.

... is ? The rendering I saw had a red bird on the hood (scratches chin, raises eyebrow). Beats orange and green, IMO.
