Pay cash for cars or at least have the car paid off before doing any upgrades. I was still paying for the mods on my SHO after I had to get rid of it. Live and learn.

We don't have the nicest cars in the neighborhood, but I own both of them. Most people have bmw's or Audi's or Infiniti's but they also have a car payment, I would rather have a car that looks like junk but runs great and pay cash for it than have a car payment.

What year SHO did you have? I was looking at buying one for a first car a while ago.

I'm only 23 but I would tell the just got my licence me to SLOW DOWN. Don't buy the first car you see at least unless you get it checked by a mechanic. And then when your driving save the excessive speeding for the racetrack. All the money I spent on tickets I could have done some major mods to my cars...

My first car was a 90 SHO. Bought it in 99 for $1600 with just over 100,000 miles. I was approaching 200,000 miles and it started to become a money pit and now i have my 05 GP.

I would tell myself "In the summer of 89 you will get an offer on the 67 turbo beetle.. take it! In September you will see a 68 GTO for $3k buy it and never own a vw again. Do not mod to the point of no return and buy better tools.

"Do not accept your Uncle's asking price on the Regal. You will find cheaper ones on Craigslist with the same miles, and you'll want an 04-08 GTP anyways."

I'm in BC too, and I hear you. Got an excessive speeding ticket in 2014. Horrible.

Did you challenge the ticket? I got a nice cop and he asked the judge to knock it down to a regular-old speeding ticket so I didn't have to pay the "dangerous drivers" fee to ICBC, and the ticket amount came out to $168.
The impound fees, however...

DON'T BUY THAT ****ING CIVIC.
That Mazda is over priced, go buy a Regal GS, you will have more fun.
With regards my first car "purchases". My old Protege was a piece of ****. SHould have bought a GTP/Regal.

Re: What would you say to a younger version of you in regards to the automotive world
I would tell my 18yo. Self to keep the car that's paid off and stick money into it instead of going out and buying the 43k dollar Mach1 Mustang that would only get you into a boat load of trouble and essentially pay for your lawyers kid to go to college... Jesus, now that I think about it, I was blowing around 800 a month just in the car payment and insurance. What was I thinking? Lol

Re: What would you say to a younger version of you in regards to the automotive world
I would tell my self to not get the GP and sink money into it because you want a Trans Am.. then go buy a trans am.
-
Re: What would you say to a younger version of you in regards to the automotive world
I would tell myself not to sink money into a top swap because someone will be selling their turbo kit.
