I understand that idiots crash all types of expensive cars, but it seems that GT-R owners tend to be the most brainless demographic.

The vehicle's path was arcing directly towards the grandstands where only a chain link fence was between the spectators and the out-of-control vehicle. The guardrail redirected the vehicle and absolutely did its job.

It looks like a typical metal guardrail and just because it was damaged in the crash doesn't mean it failed.

Does anyone know what the % power distribution is Front and Rear on these GT-Rs? Sounds like it may be adjustable and if its power heavy in the rear its probably still easy to spin out.

It did its job like a week old salad. That car should have stayed contained on the track. What if he was down the stretch pulling 150mph and hopped the fence, that car would have gone a lot further than what it did.

Looks like that old armco guardrail failed to me...
Most tracks theses days have cement guard rails/retaining walls.

Not too mention, tracks I've been to have the grandstand way closer than this.

After further consideration, I should have said "it looks like the guardrail did something" but not sufficient for a typical drag strip nor a normal roadway. Under normal conditions, the car should not vault over the guardrail.

I googled some drag strip safety standards and it appears this track is not up to snuff. From the bit I read, the post spacing appears to be way to far apart and there is supposed to be a concrete wall (as stated above) for the full length of the track.

As someone stated, this track and safety standards seem janky.
