I was on my way home from Ann Arbor today and I was in Howell Michigan, one town over from where I live and while I'm going down grand river some cars catch my eye and I was like "Holy shti cool cars."
And I'm guessing it was a audi/vw meet. In my opinion theses cars were pretty damn cool and bad ass. I didn't have time to take pictures of all of them because I was with my mom but I took pictures of the best ones. Alot of super low cars and huge intercoolers haha. notice the nuriemburg sticker ( yes I know I spelt that wrong)
there had to be at least 40+ cars there
This thing was stupid low... It had to be on bags dark blue wheels
This Gulf had a nasty stance. I love the fenders
probably one of my favorite... Definitely not the nicest out of the bunch but it looked awesome. There was a new rs6 there that was bad ass that I didn't get a picture of. A bunch of great cars.

All I could see...in order of pictures

    Enjoy electrical issues
    Enjoy that timing chain replacement
Enjoy the 2.0TSI issues (can't even list them all)
    Enjoy that timing chain replacement
    Enjoy the engine sludge
    Enjoy the engine sludge
    Enjoy that timing chain replacement

There are far more issues that plague Audi's and VW's but the only really good Audi's are the ones under warranty. There was a time when German cars were all quality but those days are gone. No one has the quality or reliability of those days, they want you to buy a car every 6 years now.

Anybody really wonder why you don't see any Mk4 and Mk5 Jetta's, passatts and golf's on the road...then you have your answer.

It makes me happy that I walked away from a 2004 a4 when I was looking for a ride before jumping on the GP

I've had 3 jetta's loved the gas mileage but they were turds. My first jetta, the day i bought it i was almost home and 3rd and 4th gear went. 2nd vr6 stripped the timeing gear teeth the 3rd omg what a pos. it had 67k miles. Bought from the original owner that was a 86 year old woman. in the 4 months i owned it overdrive went out, wouldn't start had to bypass the alarm and hot wire it. the head lights wouldn't cut off, speedo quit. muffler fell off and i was on a road trip and the car felt like it was fish tailing, hit the brakes they hit the floor, the rear wheel bearing came apart and messed up the spindle. so i say hell with German cars lol.

Well...the first sign of not buying a VW of that era is when the Mk3's would dump all the water from the windshield on the ECU. And some of that logical carried into the Mk4's

And now...VW's that use to have a sort of flare to them are more beige than a Toyota...and I can't tell an Audi A3 from an A8

VW/Audi is a pass and Merc's are still no better than they were 10 years ago as some of the C300's are not withstanding the test of time, among other things.

Seems like BMW, although they have their faults are about it...German cars are just not what they use to be in the 1990s...so sad.

Even Honda with the trans blow up issue and V6 engine issues, Toyota with a fit and finish issue and problems with rubber parts (same with Honda)...there really is no car built to last more than 10 years anymore...gee I wonder why.

I look at those cars and see $$$. I could do those timing BELTS in about 1.5 hours on even the 2.7T. They aren't that difficult to maintain...dealer cost of maintenance is outrageous but if you do it yourself, they cost about the same as anything else.

Oh yeah I agree. Still, there are things that go wrong on Audi's/VW's that most other cars don't experience.

Same goes for every car line. GP's have terrible trans, and intake gaskets...neither of which occur on Audi/VW. Everyone has their own issues. Most enthusiasts know what they get into when they purchase their car. Like Honda owners know they will be forever slow.

Those early years of VW DSG boxes are awful. Toyota 5sp autos are notorious for failures. I think everyone knows at some point the transmission just fails...and lets not talk about early CVTs LOL.

Intake gaskets is really nothing and takes maybe 2-3 hours to replace...I'll take that over forever having electrical gremlins.
