    So, this guy puts a fine grit "paste" onto the valve, gets it seated back in the head, and spins it alot on order to "match the valves to the seats"... Has anyone seen this before? It seems like a reasonable idea.

    Yep, good ol fashioned valve lapping. Usually when you install new valves or seats you want to do this.

    Yeah thats how we did the valves in the small engines class in high school. I am pretty sure you can buy that paste at pretty much any parts store.

    i'd love to know what its called, i'd like to do that to the l-67 heads im prepping for my topswap
    2000 GT Mods: HAI, 10.5mm wires, rebuilt 60k motor, ZZP stainless headers, magnaflow mufflers, fresh paint job,L-67 top swap, Ported SC...

    It's called valve lapping compound.
