Another thing to consider is a blow dryer. My buddy who does some high end car detailing on the side uses one. You dry the car with it rather than a towel or anything else that rubs on the paint. It really makes a difference on dark colors. They make specific dryers for detailing. I don't know what brand he has.

One other thing to mention is to use the blot method when drying after flooding the surface instead of wiping the remaining water. Using a spray wax as a drying aid is also helpful. Spray onto the car with the remaining water and go over with a plush microfiber or waffle weave towel and dry the car. The spray wax will add more lubricity.
