If I knew how to do it, or that it could be done, I would be all over that as that is a fantastic idea. However, after a period of time I think people would just ignore it or even come to view it as a nuisance.
Fosh, I like your idea but lest we also forget that character also plays a role too. Peoples inward checks and balances that would tell one, what Im getting ready to submit might reflect badly on who I am, what I believe, what Im about, etc.
Theres all kinds of things that can be done downstream of a process but ultimately it takes a correction at the source to be most effective.
I rely a great deal on the members that come here on a regular basis to police the forums as well and to point out things that I may have missed, flag posts, stuff like that. Furthermore, if anyone sees that I have not treated one person the same an another, I expect that to be pointed out as well, I am human and as fallable as the next person. That said, however, situations and circumstances can change just enough to warrant a bit different action. I also try to take into account whether or not the person has been a member in good standing or not, have they been contributing to the community as a whole and whether the particular event that has been deemed needing attention or action is an isolated thing due to a bad day, that sorta thing or if it is a repeat of a continuing pattern.
You have to look at things from the close up view and from the big picture as well.
It's probably something I am not seeing and don't want to look like an idiot, how do you go about flagging a thread or post?
It seems like here recently, a few newbies have come in and it seems like they have to prove themselves. Nothing major, but also when they see members going at it, they don't know any better and jump in themselves. I am sure that 9 out of 10 don't even read the forum rules. But, like said before, the job you, the other admins, and mods are doing makes this a great place. You can only do and see so much.
I have long meant to do some how tos on how to use some of the forum functions, but every time I think of it Im tied up on something else or short on time.
All these ideas have been great and I know I'm one of the people your talking about so I'll keep it toned down...PROMISE![]()
That thread with the ricer was stupid to begin with. Every time he posts its in the kills section and he talks **** about our cars, everytime. He doesn't have anything good to contribute at all to this commmunity. Yet, everything he says, ol' Scotty doesn't really do anything to speak of but make an offical like post, otherwise he's nice to him (he was last time he was on here). He won't give him infractions or anything. He will however treat a senior member crappy in a thread and when confronted about it he'll give an infraction to a contributing member who has actully helped out people before. Its hilarious in my opinion.
I probably got infraction #2 or a ban, who hoo!!!
Well, FWIW I think about 90% of the members here most likely don't appreciate the fact of Grand Prix's getting crapped on a GRAND PRIX FORUM.
I mean, like I had said before that is like me going on a Corvette or Mustang forum and talking crap about how many of those cars I have beat and God forbid if one of the members THERE have a better car than me...then it is just a POS...not better than my GTP...no way.
I guess in the long run you just gotta see it from our point...not saying names and not calling anyone out here. I just think, and as Shawn said...justice needs to be served in the correct spot and to the person at fault...not to members.
AND...by members I mean Grand Prix owners.
I agree with ya.
Its like me, I have an LS2 powered vehicle other than my GTPs, do you hear me bad mouthing L67s vs. LS2s? No, its not right. If someone asks a question about my other vehicle, i'll answer but i'm not gonna go on here and brag how great it is and how its better. I think thats bull****. Not that I have any biases between the two anyway, but even if i did, it wouldn't be right to talk crap about GPs on a GP board. I respect this platform and the potential it has, I do the same with the other platforms I've messed with (LS2 and some old school Mopars). If you hate a platform so much, don't be a member on that forum, its as simple as that.
As for that ricer in the kills section, he hasn't contributed a damn thing to this community, other than **** talk our cars. Why he's still allowed to come here is beyond me. That idiot needs to be gone because every few months the same **** will go on over and over again. Its already happened twice, waiting for round 3.
Oh well, I don't know anything...
There's a reason why the racing section in clubgp is the biggest joke in the whole site, makes me realize I still drive a grand prix when its all said n' done.
