Current car is 2005 impala ls,250 000 kilometres on it.
    issues are
transmission need replacing again, still drives but it bangs into gear from a stop pretty often(already replaced it once 4 years ago)
rockers panels are completely rusted out.
1 door at the bottom is very rusty and the other doors are starting to also.
rust on front fenders where the tire sprays water/dirt.
bubbling on rear fenders and under gas cap.

Car looks great still but another year or 2 it wont lol.

Not sure what to do at this point, I like the car but its alot of time and money to put into it. and time I don't have(14-16 hour work shifts and a new born baby) I could pay my cousin to put new rockers on and go to a body shop to cut and replace the metal that's rusty then go get a vinyl wrap done to it(vinyl wrap is way cheaper then a paint job) But I feel no matter what rust I fix more will pop up specially here in canada and their salt roads..

    What Is everyone's opinion?

Keep it as a winter car and get another one to drive the other two months a year when it's nice.

I would search for another safer car for the family especially with your new baby and maybe just DD the imp till it dies if you can live with ghe trans issues or rusts out. I only say that because i would imagine the value isn't going to be good and you won't get much out of the imp if you tried to sell it.

I would count my loses and pick something else up. To much work needs to be done to it, and it's not worth it. Grab something else.

ya I was thinking the same thing....wifes grandparents are giving my wife their old minivan so there is the family vehicle.
so Ill drive it till the end of next year I think then hopefully have enough saved up to buy a 2010+ honda civic or some type of 4 banger 4 door grocery getter. my big rig truck is parked 1.5 miles away from my house so I just need a tiny car lol

It's not the only reason I need a car lol. And you try riding a bicycle in dead winter in Ontario.

Spring/summer/fall I plan walking to the truck.
