I didnt vote for him due to his history.
I do however wonder what will happen come 1-20-09 when the next democrat preaching about change takes office, it was a good ticket, I mean, we got rid of a republican for corruption and put a democrat who screamed "CHANGE" in his place now it looks like they might be cell-mates.
Its a sad day but im waiting for the day the feds take Mayor Daley in as well.
I was particularly disturbed by that story. Its a shame that someone would do that.
Good, that guy was a scumbag and a complete moron. Who in the right mind would do what he did when he had knowingly been under investigation already prior to these happenings.
you never can trust a politician from Illinois....
And yet, our next president is from there, hmmmmm.
You said it.....
Might broad brush strokes you got there. Our next vice president could have been from a state with a convicted Senator.
I read a pretty good article on Slate about why Chicago and Illinois seem to be known for corruption. New York was also a hot bed of corruption in the 20s and 30s, but FDR as governor in NY clamped down on the machines and their power diminished. In Chicago and Illinois, not so much.
Here's the article: Why is Chicago so corrupt? - By Daniel Engber - Slate Magazine
Well I painted with the broad brush strokes because 1.) because of the history of corruption, 2.) Obama came from virtually no where to being our president and in my life experiences that doesnt happen unless there is some seriously strong workings in the background that often include corruption. He may prove me wrong but for now I'll stick to what Ive observed over time, and 3.) The bible states that each will reproduce after its own kind. That is to say, a dog will reproduce dogs and a cat will reproduce cats so it would stand to reason people coming out of a heavily corrupted system will likely have some corruption in or about them.
Again, Obama may buck this trend, it remains to be seen. Im not terribly optomistic, but we'll see. Right now, all the excitement over him having been elected, we likely wont know for a year or two as people compare their expectations with what is actually done.
He didnt get my vote, but I'll support him until I have reason not to, but I'll reserve my final jugement as it were until I see a bit more.
I don't want to get into a religious argument with you, but here are a few fun facts from the bible:
Make fun of a bald guy? Bears are gonna eat you: 2 Kings 2:23-24
Hope your circumcised, or else you should be abandonded: Genesis 17:14
Wife is infertile? Sleep with the help! Genesis 16:1-4
Want a big reward? Abandon your wife and family! Luke 18:29-30
Don't get married if you are not already - 1 Corinthians 7:27
We must do what Israel says, or we'll perish - Isaiah 60:12
Don't drink alcohol - Isiah 5:11
Rob churches if you are a believer, it's OK! - 2 Corinthians 11:8
Are you a woman, or not a virgin? You're not gonna be saved - Revelation 14:1-4
And here's my favorite bible verse. Ezekiel 23:20, "For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses."
English translation? She had sex with men whose dicks were like donkeys, and they came like horses." Sweet!
I highly doubt senator obama is dirty, he has been in this investigation as well and tied to many dirty people but he was on a personal level not a business level, He has been cleared by the FBI for atleast 2 years now.
I think we will impeach if he doesnt resign.
I feel for you Illinois folks; your current governor replaced a governor who's currently serving time as well. Blagojevich just needs to resign now. On Monday he was saying more or less, "Bring on the taping of my conversations, you got nothing." Tuesday, US Attorneys brought their game.
Not for nothing, but if Patrick Fitzgerald ran for governor in Illinois and I was a citizen, I'd vote for him. He was great in the Tuesday press conference. I'm sure he'll run for something soon.
I always get a smile when I see the news talking heads, "What can we do to get these people out of politics." Uh, DON'T vote for them?!?! There's term limits in place in every state. It's called an ELECTION.
AMEN...I agree with you on this one. I believe this "putting a price on an office" happens very frequently. Come on folks, these idiots that are "elected" into office who are supposed to represent us, aren't doing their job. They are more worried about who is willing to pay out the biggest buck. Referring to your post Deezul_AwT, the media is a HUGE problem when it comes to politics. They might not lie, but they mislead like there's no tomorrow; leaving information out, over glorify other information. It's sickening!!
How can we fix this corruption, once again I agree with you, VOTE WISELY. But I fear that the greater part of our society is lazy and rely solely on what they see on tv, magazines or newspapers. Or in other words, information that is fed to them. Our politicians are the product of our lazy/uneducated society; our civic duty doesn't just begin and end with election day.
Lets me try and relate this to a football game. Football players can't learn/practice football by just reading magazines or watching videos. They have to actually get on the field and practice practice practice and practice some more, and they do this while learning different plays and scenarios. That way when they get to the game, they know what their doing. Election day is our game day, and in order for our game to go well we need to do our own work finding the facts and not being force fed the crap we get from our "bought out" media.
Kill him
HAHA I'm sure those thoughts have crossed some minds, especially members from his own party.
to be honest. I live here. corruption everywhere. cops here in town all the way up to the pres elect.
