Well the welder that I posted a pic of a while ago is now working great. It turns out all that was the issue was the crappy flux wire it came with. The welds would never stick to anything. I bought a name brand flux wire, also went with a little thicker wire (.035") and have used it a few times and successfully welded things together finally. The welds aren't great as I need practice, but this is my first time welding two things together:

2006 Grand Prix GT S/C 109k - Modded Transgo Shift Kit, Gutted Airbox, Dash Cam, and Inlays. Retros soon to come.
2002 Grand Prix GT N/A 127k - Same as 06 Plus: Trans Cooler, DIY Aux Input, LED lighting, Suspension Upgrades, Tint, Retrofits.
    Sold.

Looks better than the welds Dan had on his glasspack before it got ripped off the car. I wouldnt mind learning to weld, grandpa has an arc welder but I would rather learn on a mig welder.

Yeah I wanted to learn to mig weld too since it is the easiest. My uncle arc welds, and has tried mig welding but that crappy wire threw him off and made him just shove the mig on a shelf and never use it again. I'm glad it works well, opens a new oppertunity for me, I can do exhaust now. I also got a cutoff wheel recently so I'm all set.

Yep MIG welding is like the hot glue gun for steel. Navy, maybe the wire you had was old. The flux don't last forever. Glad to see you workin metal with fire!

Speaking of which, I hated to do what I did today. It was insane. A customer insisted on a new quarter panel for just this little dent. Makes no sense at all, its a MUCH more invasive and expensive repair but thats what they wanted so I did it. Felt silly the whole time. Ready to weld up in the morning. (yep once in awhile I still fix wrecks too) 06 Trailblazer here. The rear A/C unit is right against the back of this panel.

All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Has a cheerleader sticker on it and smells like chick inside. Spotless and immaculate inside, nasty under the hood. A old dude would probably know better!

Probably lol. One of my friends used it at my house and did some real booger welding, he owes me for the wire and power though.

The wire was old. I've seen reviews on flux wire stating that the harbor freight wire wouldn't weld well when new, and a name brand wire worked much better. So maybe it was both. The old stuff was by "crown alloys company". Just scrap now.

Also a video of my uncle's 81 f250 running (with a 95 f150 cab) Everything else is from 81. Carburetor of course. It sat for 5 years untouched and needed a few things figured out, I got it to this point where it runs and moves. It misses and backfires, but still starts on it's own. Not sure what else to do next to get it running better, plugs look okay. I'll check that each cylinder is getting spark, check/clean the cap and rotor, and maybe tune the carb if I can.

    What I did so far:
Unlocked the engine, got stuck from moisture/rust
    Got a new battery
Freed both front disc brakes, had to remove the wheels and free the pads
    Fixed rotted fuel line
Extracted mystery fluid from cyl #8
Drained all 25 gallons of old gas and put in new
Fixed high resistance at a wire splice causing no power at the coil
Fed it gas at the carb til it fired and brought fuel up from the tank
Filled the trans up with fluid that it leaked

2006 Grand Prix GT S/C 109k - Modded Transgo Shift Kit, Gutted Airbox, Dash Cam, and Inlays. Retros soon to come.
