I want to get my grand daughter a PSP or something similar. There are so many on ebay and I don't know anything about models and such. Any advice?
    TIA.

I had an older psp for a little while and they're pretty cool, but I never used it for playing games. It was one of the first things I owned that could store movies and music and stuff on it. The games kinda sucked except for a select few ones and the psp used these stupid umd discs that break super easy. The new psvita has addressed most of these issues but then depending on how old your grand daughter is, it might be a pretty big investment and they can be sort of fragile.

My advice would be to look at some of the nintendo ds models because they have a much bigger selection of games and more enjoyable games IMO. 1st gen ds are pretty bulky and have a few issues like weak hinges and sort of bad screens but the ds lite and ds lite xl and ones similar are far better. Gamestop usually has a bunch of used ones or a store like TradeIt has used ones so you can take a look in person and get a feel for each of them.

i'd also vote for a nintendo handheld for a kid. they have a broader choice of games made to keep a kid entertained.

Thanks, It does look like the DS may be better for a 5 or 6 year old.

The Nintendo is by far a better choice for younger child.

Stay clear of the first gen PSPs, they had a lot of broken pixel issues.

The DS/ 3DS are an excellent option. You can't go wrong with pokemon!
