As a past owner of a 87 Buick T-Type, current owner of 86 GN, 71 Buick GS 4 speed, and two 72 GS455 auto, I say no way!

The combination is correct, great engine, rear drive but not a 4 door!

I can dig it. Some guys just can't fathom living in the future and are stuck in the past..any car nowadays isn't going to resemble it to be what the older classic were. It's a new day and age.

i love it, coming from a guy who was born and raised around GN's and workin on one right now.
i wish it was 4 door though lol it would also be really sick to see some true heritage with some sort of turbo 3.8 in there as well. but they are bringin it back, what else could we honestly ask for

It does look good. But why would I choose it over the Caddy ATS, CTS or the Camaro, all on the same platform?

Wow where have you people been? This car has been around the forums and was leaked along time ago. And for the regal not in a 4 door ummmmm maybe you should go visit your local Buick dealer. Cough Cough that 4 door has been selling decent too, I think it will finally live up to expectation once this GNX version is out. Ohh and anyone that thinks of buying one in any color other than black just go ahead and punch yourself in the face.

The whole POINT of rehashing a legendary nameplate is to relive the past/nostalgia. Obviously, the car will be a modern twist/take on the original, but there are certain elements that shouldn't be tampered with. Otherwise, what's the point of bringing back the name at all? Just hoping it sells because it's a popular name? That seems to be the typical GM formula.

I don't so much have a problem with the Regal being a 4-door. It HAS been one for 2 out of its 4 generations, though at least the gen 1 w-body version was offered in 2 AND 4 door. But there is a slight difference between the Regal nameplate, which lived on from '88 - '04/'09+, and the GN or GNX, which was supposed to be the epitome of taking a little old V6, and getting it to beat up on 'Vettes of its time. I mean look at the heritage and perception of Buick right in that same article:

Buick wasn't always synonymous with retirement and long naps. During the dark days of the mid-1980s, Buick was GM's sunny spot for quick cars, racing prowess, and advanced technology such as in-car cell phones and touch screens. To turn fundamentally bad V-6s into viable V-8 alternatives, Buick engineers developed sequential electronic fuel injection, distributor-less ignition, and ceramic-impeller-wheel turbos.
I mean....you're not just bringing back any old blast from the past nameplate here. You're bringing back a LEGENDARY one with industry leading performance, technological breakthroughs and sinister looks attached to it, and in typical GM fashion, treating it with indifference by slapping it on a refined, 4-door family car with the same drivetrains available in several other makes/models, completely defeating the purpose of what the GN/X nameplate was about (offering a 4 cylinder GN? At least it has a turbo, but then offering a V6 on a car called a GN withOUT a turbo??). That's not going to sit well with many diehards. If the car sells well, it's because it's a well built, well equipped car, not because of the GN nameplate. But for as many people that will be drawn to the car for what it offers, or the handful for the nameplate, there will probably be as many that refuse to buy it because "it's an insult to the GN name", much like the last GTO.

Obviously, with more than 25 years having passed, things will have to be different. That's understood. No one is asking it to be the same car. I think what people DO want is for it to at least have the same SPIRIT, which this car does not. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice little car in its own right. It just isn't worthy of the GN/X nameplate.

Im with the two door guys, I used love seein these things roll on by. Always saw them as sleepers in the 90s and early 00s. I guess I am just kinda old school that way. I miss the days of full size two door cars. Thats why I love my GTP coupe so much. Its the same length if not longer then most sedans today! The GN was a legendary name no doubt its about time they are doing something with it. GNX or bust!

The new Challenger sure looks like its classic predecessor.

The new "GNX" is ugly and an embarrassment to the name.

Challenger is the only one that is pretty close to their original retro looks. And it is the worst selling of the three if I recall. I love all three of the modern muscle cars. Although the Mustang is the best cough cough. I think we should wait and see what the production version is capable of and looks like.

The challenger is about the only modern day/classic car that actually resembles the older classics w/ a touch of modern style.
