Not that I hate gas powered cars or anything but I have often wondered what if...

Here is my idea, make a electric car that has four motors, one for each wheel directly attached to it. Now you avoid the need for a mechanical steering system because the wheels would change speed depending on which way you were turning. Or turn on itself if you wanted to, one side forward, the other side in reverse like a tank.

Now I might be missing something obvious here, like oh maybe it will handle like ****. I don't know.

the tires would wear out real fast, and the car would be unstable at higher speeds.

that car is already made tho. it goes 200 mph and can travel up to 250 miles per charge. i forget who makes it but its European and looks like a sports coupe. its pretty cool looking.

as far as electric is concerned I wondered why they cant have one alternator running off each wheel. more current to charge the battery/batteries

and then count in the drag that takes then take that drag into the motor which requires more juice to spin, thus then the battery that your trying to charge......... ever see a alternator going 80mph? ya THATS cool

thats been done too, when off the go pedal, the wheels turning recharges the battery's by just rolling.

Yeah that works, but attempting to gernerate energy while driving just results more loss than gain.

    inb4 windturbines. Same thing.

man has been after a perpetual power source forever, its just dont work like you would think it might, or it would be done now to power city grids.

think about this, all a nuclear power plant does is boil water. the steam turns a turbine that turns the generator.

same with a dam, water turns the impeller to the generator.

then theres geo thermal steam thats already freely flowing out of the ground, and then its harnessed. but its not 100% all the time, good old mother nature, cant trust her.
