So I love my grand prix But its just not near fast enough! I'm looking for a car that will do 0-60 in low 5s. Ive been looking at either a 98-02 trans am Or 3000gt. I like them both equally But I love the v8 in the trans am. I'm also wanting to mod it a little But not too extensive. Probaly enough to get me into the high 4s in 0-60. What do you guys think? Which ones a better Buy Or I am open to other ideas! Please give your opinion on What to do!

Trans am sure good luck finding one that isn't to beat or has a rape price attached to it.

Yea Grand Prixs might not be the fastest but there easily accessible and parts are cheap and mpg is decent

Honestly the only 3000gt that'll get ya there is the TT model, and good luck finding one that hasn't been drivin like a bat out of hell. Me personally would go with the Trans am, but like RED said their pricey!

If you were in Ohio there's a sweet one on my road for sale. WS6 performance package and everything. Looks like this: http://s3.racingjunk.com/ui/9/51/30916519-458.jpg! I mean I can hook you up with the guys number but idk if you'd want to pay the expenses for shipping, etc.

and as far as gas mileage goes, my buddies 2000 WS6 gets 18 city and 30 highway.

Yeah that not bad at all and I like american muscle better than some import. Do you know What price thaf guy wants for it? Ive been looking for awhile. I can't find a ws6 for a decent price. There not really a difference between the regular and the ws6 version is it? Just cosmetic and like 15hp? I can just get a new Hood and bumper and there its a ws6!

I guess its not the full "thought" of having a real WS6. But if you're not someone that's like that then what the hell! lmao! Like I said I can shoot you the guys number if wanted.

    I love these threads...

I wanna go fast, but what it cheap!

So sorry, but it just doesn't work that way...

You gotta PAY if you wanna PLAY!

And you will then MOD and want it reliable...

    Cheap/Fast/Reliable

You can only have two of the three, so chose wisely!

These rules don't only apply to our platform, they're universal, WS6 or whatever...
you want a 4 sec. 60 car, you'll have to spend some moola and once you do, you'll see there are lots of better options, not just those you mentioned.

If you don't mind FWD, turbo the GTP for $3K plus a $2K trans - should be good for low 12's maybe 11's?

yeah that trans wont be just 2k...and i dont think the turbo will be just 3k either...

as far as WS6 goes, i think the WS6 actually has a different suspension setup, more aggressive for better handling. not totally sure though.

If I were you I wouldn't go anywhere near a 3000GT, but that's just me. Although I imagine they are a lot cheaper than a decent Trans Am unless you are talking LT1? Then again f-body's have come down in price drastically the past few years. Overall, it will be more cost effective to get a TA and mod that.

The WS6 had Bigger tires with 17 inch wheels, specially tunes suspension, Bigger Brakes, and a "Free Flowing Exhaust" as described by Pontiac lol

Used built transmissions for $2K easy, rebuilt TEP's go for $1900 starting price - I don't think $2K or even $2.5K is unreasonable. There are used kits in the classifieds going for $2-3K. I think $5K plus tune should put you pretty close used. If the OP can't do his own work then yeah my figures are probably $2K'ish off.

Probaly 5k for the car and then from there I have none! Just When I get money kinda car! But I've.found cheap ones that are a little rough.then I thought about.fixing them up real nice like paint job new Hood new seats then work on the engine. Its going to be a daily car by the way and Yeah give me his number! And.I won't be cheap When I mod it just When I'm buying it haha I'll probaly do straight pipes anyways so I don't really see a difference in the two cars!

Buy a Foxbody, drop a LSx motor in it, your choice of trany, and bolt it up.

Tough finding a solid Fox Body now without someone wanting the world for it. Another great choice would be an E39 540i 6 speed. Major power & comfort but a little costly with maintenance.
