I have a friend looking at a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with 112k miles. I saw it the other day in person and drove it. It doesn't look anything like it's mileage. It's in perfect shape and looks to have been mechanically maintained well. Opinions on these cars? It has the EcoTec with an auto trans.

I'd wear a mask driving one.

And that's coming from a guy with a Cobalt.

Other than a bulletproof daily, watch out for the dash/cluster going insane, along with wheel speed sensors, and harsh shifting conditions. Otherwise, it was a great car when the other half had one ('05 cavy, but it's the same thing)

It's for a chick, she thinks it's completely adorable. It'll only see daily duty. No modding.

    Thanks guys.

The other option is an MK4 Golf, but meh... Both her and I like the Sunfire better.

Personally I'd avoid VW as their parts can be expensive. My buddy has an 03 sunfire base model with the ecotec. He loves it, and tried to get me into one, ha.

    Very reliable drivetrains.
