if you use your cig lighter theres the plug on the end of the cord, and wire is all in plaint sight.

you can buy a new power port. same thing as a cigg lighter ( like 6 bucks) wire it to the fuse box power only when key forward, then a ground, you can ground that under the dash to a screw that touches metal. and drop it under the console, run the power cord back there to. have it set to only have power when the cars on, that way the unit turns off and on when you turn off the car.

or wire it up to that drop down power wire up in the dash, it looks to hard to deal with me, ive seen mine. im tapping the fuse box.

Yeah. Definitely worth looking into. Like I said this is just a kit that I found a good deal on and gives me a chance to familiarize myself with the unit and then from there I can buy whatever upgrades as I see fit; nonetheless I'm excited.

i never up graded to any other then a stand alone unit due to being able to take it with me in any car or truck and the drop of a hat. being a driver its well worth it, xm is my only friend on the road lol

and FM radio around here has gone to POT so bad, we have one rock station left and it sucks, the oldie station now plays 60 and up and it sucks too.

its all hip hop or country here now or Spanish radio lol

here's it's all soul and r&b and hip hop and rap. I think we have 2 country stations, 2 pop stations, dont really even have a oldies station. we have like a classic hits deal but usually it sucks. and then gospel.

pics: the trim on the windshield was ice cold and not flexing these windshield pics are as good as it gets.

the door jam, you can pop the plastic and get it under there to clean it up more. but not a single person has said, hey whats this wire?

tucked from the door jam to the fender, tucked under the cowl, to the windshield. i pulled the wire out to show it.

    the antenna. top of windshield

    antenna lifted

the unit in cubby with remote

this mess is why i want to drop the power port under the console.

and the tape deck, i could come out from the next up piece of trim, but it makes the wire to tight when the cassette pops out. and i also have a cd player. but no changer, that would have been nice to jump the aux port into.

Got the radio thought I might put it in today but apparently this kit doesn't come with the fm transmitter, just the aux input wire. SO I need to get a fm transmitter kit.

Scotty you posted this one Sirius-Xm Fmda25 Sirius® Wired Fm Relay Kit

And then I found this one FM Direct Adapter for PowerConnect? Radios and Vehicle Kits - Shop - SiriusXM Radio

Any difference? None that I see and looks pretty self-explanatory.

either one will work, i got the one i have at best buy a while back.

of all the fm adapters, this is the best way to hook up to the radio.

only bad thing is you need to take the radio out to get to the antenna plug on the back.

if i were you, while i had the radio out, i'd open it up and see if you can do that wire job for a direct port, cost less then 20 bucks in parts. even if you need solder and shrink tubes. like this. one of these days im going to open mine up and see what it looks like inside.

Ha! Funny you want me to take that apart and solder and wire. el oh el. Yeah, no. I am terrible when it comes soldering and wiring. I think I'll just swing by best buy and get a kit.

I'm using the dash mount kit it has a sticky on the bottom. So that way I can just attach the base to the very back of that cubby and then it will come out to the edge of the dash under the ash tray. I'm excited

use that prep pad it comes with to clean the area you want to stick it too. it makes difference on how well it sticks, it will still come off later if you want it to.

    and you're a chicken lol

Chicken or not, my stuff works. And if I go to pulling wires and soldering, every time you change the station the wipers would probably come on. Something weird lol. I'll just get my kit and go on my way haha

But yeah I looked up prices it's $14.95/month. But like you said I'm gonna try to call and get it set up and get a promotion of some sort. And will they turn it on before they send the bill or do they wait to turn it on till after you send the payment?

they will turn it on when you call, and then send you a bill. my last bill came in like 3 weeks and i had time still to pay it. remember money orders only for your safety.

make sure when you call you have your radio ID # handy, channel 0 i think shows it. and have your unit set up, on, and the xm antenna in clear sky. they will tell you to do all this. having it already done will help some.

Got the hardest part out of the way. Used the heat gun on the weather strippin to get it good and soft and there was a groove in there so I slipped it right in. Looks flawless Thanks Scotty! Will probably still be in touch as I get it mounted and connected and subscribed.

Here's pics, forgive dirty car. It's only for race status.

I picked this up from Best Buy, it's the only fm transmitter siriusxm has, aside from getting them at other places and such.

Anyway, went to Best Buy I grabbed it dude comes over to help, apparently I need 2 fm antenna adapters because the grand prix antenna is smaller than the standard antenna size. Go figure.

here's what the grand prix has.

    http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...CF23A8A48E.jpg

    here's what the kit has.

    http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...D0BC6F69F4.jpg

so either I need the 2 $20 adapters or I need another fm transmitter that comes in GP size.

Just makes me mad I have all the wires run all I gotta do is plug it and boom.

I got it installed today. I will take some pics. But I called them and yeah I don't like their customer service I feel like I'm talking to a robot. She told me that I could have gotten a free radio had I called. And then I asked about a sign up bonus or something. Said I did not qualify. And then later in the phone call she offered me a radio for $20. I'm like but bish you just said you could have gave me one for free...?
And when I signed up she didn't tell me about the packages. She just gave me the most expensive one so I told her I didn't want that one I wanted XM Select. And I got that and told them to send me a paper bill so I can send a money order. Well that's $2 to send an invoice and then $15 activation fee. God fvcking dammit are you serious? So $30 basically to get setup. BITE ME

But it is activated...and will be activated till the 16th. Soooooo. I assume if I don't send a payment they'll cut it off by Feb 16 right? Well by your logic Scotty, if I let it lapse and don't pay, they should email me a free come back bonus right??

And I'm curious...since I used the hard line fm transmitter vs using the wireless fm deal...is there anything special I have to do to make it go through the wire vs the air? Or does it use the fm line by default as long as plugged in?

Actually yes...I think I paid like 15 bucks for three months cause I started to cancel. Now it just renews at 15 every three months. Feels worth it to me

yeah they whack ya on the fee's. but thats it for them, even if you let it get shut off and then take the $25 for 6 month deal, theres no reactivation fee's. just the first time, its unavoidable.

my fm hard wire deal ( ijust looked at ) has no on or off switch, iirc just turning on the xm cut the fm signal off. this is a xm, (brand) fm transponder so the unit has a wire that looks like the antenna plug for the xm, that would be plugged into the xm unit, then the xm antenna would be plugged into the transponder, along with the fm antenna plugs. i hope you could follow all that lol

some of the ones i saw on line had a on off switch.
