Yugoslavian SKS maybe? I've got a Chinese one, but it was a Combloc firearm, Austrians never had anything to do with it lol.

The WWII rifle is probably an Arisaka variant. My grandfather was in the navy during WWII and he brought one back from the Philippines. I still have it, it's a Type 38 in 6.5 Japanese caliber.

Yeh sorry its yugoslavian Couldnt really think of it just put a country in there that sounded good lol. I looked the jap gun up when I was in high school still. (like 15 years ago) Ill have to look at it when I get back to my parents house hopefully this weekend. Im not sure if mine is early war with the Emperor’s symbole the Chrysanthemum on it or later in the war where the solders filed it off because of the shame to the country. Ill look up the SKS I had the webpage for it bookmarked. Was going to get ammo for it and see if it still fired. Got it off a friend for free b/c he was going to jail haha.

Mine this has the chrysanthemum on it, but it's been imprinted over with O's, which designated it as a training rifle.

Stock was cracked in half and duct taped, recoil guide rod was missing and recoil spring was bent up, and mag rod was missing too, trigger plate was also damaged, and it had a casing blown off in the chamber. I have no clue why he kept it that long, but I took it and tracked down all the parts and got her back up an running great. Thinking I'm gonna give it to my daughter for her 5th bday.

I have no idea, but that's his decision. He's the one that had to fit the bill. I got my AR as a stripped receiver years ago then built a kit on it, which has since been disassembled and reassembled with different parts over the years. I still love it, it's my favorite rifle I've bought.

There's gun rallies across America tomorrow. It was started by Guns Across America and they will be at the capital buildings of each state. You can google it if you are interested. I won't be going Saturday in Dover DE because it starts at noon when the dedication of that street being renamed MLK Boulevard in ending. Too much can go wrong there. I will be attending the 2nd Amendment rally on Sunday in Dover, DE.

Missed the gun rally Saturday but went to the ralley Sunday in Dover GE. Nice to meet up with a couple of thousand people that think like I do. Several local politicions were there to support us. The governor of Delaware wants a gun law like NY's. We need more people to join the NRA. If you want to keep free take action. I bought a Molon Labe shirt.

    kahr cm9

Those all can be found in my price range and locally. anybody have any or have used any of those? or anybody have advice for a buying noob?

I haven't fired a .22 in many years. I had an XD. It seems everyone likes them, it didn't feel right in my hands so I traded it for a Glock and sold the Glock. I fired an M&P 9mm. It is a very nice gun. I would trust my life to it. I carry .40 Berettas, I like a gun made of metal that has a hammer. Rent some different ones at the firing range and see what suits you. It's like a woman it's a very individual choice. In the end it's very important that you are completely comfortable with what you carry.

i personally wouldn't carry a .22 on me due to it being better for like target practice. i'd do for the s&w mp 9mm compact. it's a smooth shooting gun with a bigger clip so what more could you ask for when you are putting your life on the line if you did need to use it for that.

Right now is a really bad time to be buying a .22 and trying to shoot it. Look and see if you can even buy ammo for those guns you listed. .22 and 9mm are hard as hell to get in most places. I can mishap on them. I can buy .40 or .45 whenever I feel like it. Of those listed, get the Smith M&P or XD in something you like. Both are proven, any caliber they sell them in works for defense and they both feel good in my hand.

Since were back from the dead... this is what I bought last month.

Love the Enfield, always wanted one of the .308 versions. I owned a Saiga in .308 at one time, they're really nice guns for an AK. I would ditch the barrel attachment though. Just use a nice muzzle break.
