I would buy this concept version of the mustang. As far as I'm concerned it's just a name. It looks sexy to me. Hopefully it can loser some weight and throw a V10 in it. Would make that a magnificent car.

It is just a name. People get *****y over names tho. If they discontinued the mustang and called this car Ford Fantastic, everyone would be happy.

90% of the time the concepts aren't produced as they look.... but there are times. Considering the pictures I posted are from Motor Trend, likely this could be the direction Ford is heading. Granted I will agree, its a good possibility it won't be the same, but there is a chance. We won't know for sure until Ford says this is it.
And the concept Camaro was crap.

    So is the 5th gen.

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, reality.

So no more live rear axle.

    No more manual transmissions..

    No more RWD.

    No more engines with torque.

Rwd will always be around. All engines have torque. And manual will always be around. I would think GM building the Super Sport would be a very clear indicator that those things will never fully go away.

    AWD is the new thing.

Usable and meaningful torque doesn't exist anymore.

Manuals are quickly losing popularity in favour of semi-automatics.

GM building a car they'll probably lose money on is a good indicator of nothing but their own stupidity.

Ok so what your saying is this. Every single car being made soon will only be awd, semi automatic, and no torque

Considering the "times and economy" people look at mpgs, driveability, and with a family conscious mind. Yes there are muscle enthusiasts but the auto makers are following the market. Torque can only get so far without suffering fuel economy. Sure boost it, but in the end we will live in a day with boosted 4 cyl and 6 cyl if we are lucky making 25% less torque than their Hp numbers. Not saying I'm a fan of this move. I'm not. But the American car industry is thriving. They are following the people, it's only our fault. Manuals are too old school for everyday drivers. Each company will have to realize that their fleet can only produce one car with a crappy economy and a big motor. Unfortunately for gm it will be the vette. Ford has a choice. The mustang should never die. As much as I dislike them Im in love with the 12 up style. Why touch it? The 05 to 11 is straight ugly, but they finely refined the retro style to something modern and got it right.

Look at 90% of all exotics within the past 5 years. How many are actual manual trans? Semi-autos are taking over across the board. Tap shift and full autos are the rage, more gears for better pull through the gears and more efficiency taking it easy. From Lambos and ferraris to honda accords and nissan altimas power and efficiency are all becoming based on gearing more than motor. I myself prefer an actual manual transmission but most would like to control the gears when they want to but during daily driving let it shift for them.

The way I see it we are just going through a similar trend back in the 80s. All the muscle cars from the 70s with big blocks and big power and 4-in-the-floor trannies were limited down with efficiency standards, more gears, and lighter chassis. Most cars went from RWD to FWD or faded out for more efficient replacements. Its a cycle I see starting to repeat itself but on a higher up scale. Cars are still making record power but the efficiency standards are rising with them. Horsepower is still selling cars but the torque rating is alot lower so they are more efficient, and better gearing allowing for smoother driving and faster pulls during acceleration. Don't even get me started on GMs idea of killing cylinders while cruising to save power.

I can almost guarantee that the super sport is not meant to make money in the first place. A lot of companies have products that are going to lose them money but are there to attract new customers for other products. Cadillac xlr for instance. It's a common business practice.

The super sport will be the businessmans sedan. Competing on BMW levels. Is it going to make money, probably not. Is it cool, heck yea. As you said it'll attract buyers. I drove 3 G8s and bought a GTO. It's a decent strategy.

    Mustang enthusiasts are pissed.

Astin Martin and AMG owners are rolling their eyes.

^agreed, when i first saw the 2013 fusion, my imediate thought was "aston martin?" I am not a fan of this new concept. I don't see "mustang" in it anywhere

Found some new info out. Engines will be for base the same V6. Middle engine will be a ecoboost four for mpgs. And then the same 5.0 coyote. Also independent rear suspension.
