Ok, so I'm getting an iPhone 5. This isn't an iPhone vs Galaxy thread. If that **** happens I'll just have the thread locked/deleted.

Main reason for the thread is which carrier.
I currently have AT&T and was Grandfathered into unlimited data from my 3G. However, the 3GB cap is stupid and I exceed it every month which slows down my data rate a stupid amount.

I don't do a whole lot of talking. More concerned with data plans.

Anyone have Sprint or Verizon? Not necessarily for an iPhone but for a diff phone.
I know Verizon has unlimited nights and weekends don't they? What about Sprint?

Once again this isn't an iPhone vs Galaxy thread, rather a carrier x vs carrier y thread

    Well. 2 things.

AT&T... I have them as well. But what do you mean by a 3gig cap?? I'm grandfathered under the same $30 unlimited data deal and I wish they would charge or slow me down. I've never had a problem with data.
As for the iPhone, I love the phone. But from what I understand, if you have the 4s and the new OS, then the only thing the iPhone 5 would offer you is 1 more row of apps?

Not trying to knock your plans just wanted to toss that out there

They are knocking everyone of the unlimited plan the moment they resign early IIRC, actually when you resign period.

Sprint is terrible (no 4g anywhere) cheapest plan is/was $70 but after taxes its $90/month (too much to ever pay for cell phone service). These data plans and the prices are getting out of hand though. I won't ever sign another contract ever again.

AT&T has a 3G cap on their data. You just never use enough data to hit it

I'm actually going to jump to T-mobile in about 18 months. From articles I'm reading they have been dumping large amounts of money into their networks, actually T-mobile coverage is better than AT&T in this area.

How I rank providers by coverage:
    -Verizon
    -AT&T
    -T-mobile
    -Everyone else
    -Sprint

    Price to coverage value:
    -T-mobile
    -At&T
    -Verizon
    -Sprint

Phones do vary with networks and how they work with the networks. Sprint does give you 30 days to try and cancel.

I'm still a fan of my 4S, but if you get the 5 go with AT&T. I've never really had any problems with them before, and their network is pretty fast.

I'm on Verizon's site and if I understand this correctly you can pick how many gigs of data you can use. It says "unlimited talk & text" and then has whatever gig limited that you choose right after it.

I have signed another contract/upgraded phone with AT&T since the unlimited data was grandfathered in and I still have it. I don't think the contract has much if anything to do with it. I know it won't last forever but one can hope right?

And what's this about a cap on the data? I use about 5gigs a month and have need experienced such a thing.

Not sure why you dont have a cap.

Good input though guys. Keep it coming. And can anyone verify how the Verizon plan works?

So with the 5 you get a faster processor AND 1 more row of apps. Didn't know that Jordo. Is it significantly faster?

And Dave, I had no idea they had plans to kick you off of that. That's unfair. Granted I probably don't use enough data to ever matter. Buuuut I like knowing that I could.

It's got plenty of little features Brando. Get on Apple's site and look. I don't want a 4S as I have a 4 right now. If I'm gonna get a new iPhone I'm getting the latest.

Sprint unlimited is good and bad.

They offer discounts. Like my mom works in a union she gets 18% off our bill.

But yeah 4g is epic limited. There is like two cities with it lol....

Verizons iphone 5 is already unlocked

Sprint has pretty much always sucked, anyone can tell you that.
Verizon charges too much. But has good coverage, and locks everything off on all their phones.
AT&T is a good mix of both, with they're stupid data cap which you'll run into a LOT faster when you find out how much faster 4G is. (3G was unbearable for me, 4G is faster than my wifi)

Us Cellular has been good pricewise, coverage wise, and all else. And now they actually have good phones too.

I'd get a 4S while it's cheap, if you really must have an iPhone. iPhone 5 practically needs to be reset out of the box, which is just stupid.

Otherwise there are plenty of RELIABLE 4G Android phones like the Razr, the S3, and the One X.

Plus they're all easily rootable which will allow you to uncap 3G data speed in case you're stuck without 4G.

Sprint will be upgrading a ton through this year and next year. Everyone claims that Sprint sucks but that is mostly people who live in poor coverage areas. Obviously if you live in a poor coverage area for a given provider it is going to "Suck" for you. The other thing is that Sprint uses Verizon towers when roaming. This is not limited to 3G service and is unlimited roaming nation wide on the SERO plan (Not sure about regular plans). So in essence if you are roaming and not getting Sprint service you can jump on Verizons 4G for free.

I am on Verizon right now and even with my 20% discount they are outrageous.
