Last night heading home from Key West we were heading west on "alligator alley" (I-75) between the hours 8pm and 8:45 pm, we counted no less than seven cars WITHOUT thier headlights on, driving in the east bound lanes of I-75, one car was just driving with parking/driving lights on, the FHP were notified by myself and troopers were dispatched. NO telling how many other did not have headlights on.

These cars where not old cars, they looked like newer model SUV's and sedans. It boggles my mind how one could drive at night and not notice YOU CANNOT SEE!!!!

Drive safe out there people! Always look out for the "dark spot" in the midst of traffic and look closely, you might spot somthing that otherewise would dangerously go unnoticed.

I see it quite often in the city with street lamps around. I installed an automatic headlight switch in my Mustang. My GP spoiled me with set it and forget it headlights lol.

I take it you've never driven without your headlights... Its not as hard to see as you're making it out to be, and great if you need to not be seen.

I've never owned a car that didn't have auto headlights. My 1st car was an 87 Buick Park Avenue, followed by my GS and my 98 Silverado. My wife's car doesn't and occasionally I forget to turn them on. Usually it's after I've filled up gas at night. Those stations are lit up pretty good and I'll go a block or two before I notice that my gauge lights can't be seen and then it will dawn on m that the headlights are not on.

Im also glad I have auto lights cuz If I didn't then I would be finding myself driving with no lights very often. but often they come on and then a minute later they go off..i wonder why it does that

Yeah, there are way too many people that don't have their lights on in dusk/dawn, and especially when it's pouring rain. I understand that the lights don't help the drive see, but are to be seen.

My assumption of those people are that they want me to hit them, then sue them.

Depends on the time of year.. Also gotta remember most of Florida gets really heavy fog in the mornings, and daily rain storms that can drop a couple inches of rain in an hour.

More light in rain sounds like more glare.

    Use parking lights.

You should start calling in on people without seat belts on too. It's not a choice, it's the LAW!

Here it is a law that if your wipers are on, then your headlights must be on too.

Matt...I'm talking about the kind of rain where you have to slow down to under 30mph, and use your 4-way flashers. The kind where people more than 50 feet from you don't exist, unless the rain lets up.

I did that once in my 05. I had HID lows and fogs and I was sitting in a drive thru blinding everyone on the road I was facing so I turned the headlights off and left the fogs on. So the dash lights were still on and I could still see pretty good. So I left and forgot about it and like 3 minutes later I was driving through an intersection and somebody went left on a yield and I almost hit them. I slammed on the brakes and honked at them and I was thinking "what a ****ing dumbass" and then I realized my headlights weren't on lol

Going 30 mph in heavy rain sounds dangerous, your just like the person I almost rear-end because they stay in the fast lane and slow down to well below highway speeds during a rainstorm.

If everyone keeps up a good 60-70 mph on the highway there shoulden't be any accidents, it the difference in speed that kills.

There's rain that makes 60-70 with zero visibility more dangerous than slowing down.
