In 90 when I started driving..the prices were about the same. I didn't think they were high. They felt workable.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

thats because in the 80's they still sold leaded gas. the good stuff.

i started driving in 85, gas was so cheap then, 2 or 3 bucks could keep you cruising for some time, even with the big boats we all drove back then.

had one friend go to the gas station and ask for 2 bucks all the time. attendants nicknamed him $2 Dave...

I started legally driving around 93 and regular was about .89/gal. Would fill up my 84 Vic and go crusing all the time since my car held the most people, lol.. Everyone else had Camaro's and Mustangs and my 6' 2 self does not fit well in the back of a 95 Firebird. I could fill up for under $20.

Now it takes me about $46 to fill my 03 Vic.

IN 1986 I was in high school and I used to put $2 gas in my 68 Nova with 230 c.i. L6 and drive me and my friends around all Saturday night, and never complained about the price of gas.
    Those were the days!

I started driving in 2001 and gas was .99 a gallon, so from 1986 to 2001 the price of gas went up .10 and from 2001 to 2012 it went up almost $3. Damn.
