So I've been talking about wanting a GTP and getting rid of my GT because it has problems and what not.

As luck might have it, next month it's a strong possibility my family will be getting a lump sum thus meaning they will help me get another, better vehicle by adding to the value of selling my GT.

My current GT has cosmetic issues, was neglected in its past, and its interior was not taken care of at all; the leather is all dried out and not plump any more, I don't have heated seats or HUD or a sunroof.

I want a GTP and I love the 97-03 body style.

I can't decide between finding a GTP or taking a buddy up on an offer for a 05 GP (with no extras) or getting a different vehicle.

I crave more power, yet I need more MPGs, and did I mention performance is important? My GT is simply not enough (without modding it up) so I am leaning towards a boosted car. However, affording 93 octane is another factor.

So I wanted to make a thread, take a poll, get some feedback etc.

Also, if you have any suggestions of good places to look for the car other than craigslist and eBay and other things to look for in the car specifically please let me know.

u serious? ur gonna be paying 3-4 bucks more on the tank than you would for a standard gasoline. gtp get about the same milage as gt's. it just depends how much of a lead foot you have.

GTPs get BETTER mileage because of the 2.93 gear ratio.

Also, 05+ = less fuel mileage because they're 200 lbs heavier?

How bad are your winters? If you seek peformance, reliability, and better gas mileage then I say a Camaro z28 or SS, or a Firebird Trans Am with a 6 speed trans. Good performance and better gas mileage then what your getting now. So my vote is for a different car.

I've got 2 Camaro SS's and I can verify that the gas mileage is NOT better.

moving more mass requires more power.

    more power requires more fuel.

But the returnless fuel system... whats that good for?

Larger engine also requires more fuel to make the same power.

There is alot of unanswers questions here! but if money is no object here.
I would keep your car and look for a 04 or 05 GTO m6 there much easier to
work on and close the same price now.

Get a good GTP, that's been taken care of, and mod the hell out of it, and have more fun.

And get good gas mileage too.

you're in high school right? if so get a gtp 97-03. any newer and insurance becomes an issue, same with anything better. my stock GTP (according to the DIC) gets 23 mpgs with spirited driving. and i was handling paying for 93 gas, back in highschool, taking home about $200 a week. most of which was spent on weed, blunt wraps, booze, and protien. then once you start modding the mpgs get better especially with the flow mods.

Agreed.. buddies SS gets about the same as my GTP on avg, I play with mine, he babies his... 20mpg avg.... I get 30ish on the highway, he gets 28 with 6-spd. Other buds 00 vette got 28 on highway with auto tranny, but avg 22 with his foot out of the throttle.

Its really all in how you drive it
