so to run a 3.2 fairly safely i looked at 1.0 pcm pacesetter headers u bend delete pipe, zzp 10.3 mm wires, xp cam, hydrolic roller lifters, shift kit, 3.2 pulley, 180 t-stat, aluminium rockers, sound good to run the pulley? i came up with around 1300 ish DAMN lol cant wait to pay my car off hahaha
could all this work be done in a weekend with a experianced ase mechainic helping me :)?
LOL. It's a sickness isnt it?
Over there years I have more than $5K worth of performance stuff into my GTP. It was spaced out pretty good so I didnt feel the hurt really bad, but damn. When I go back and look at everything I have, I nearly **** my pants when I saw the total.
Rediculous.
a cam and all the supporting mods are hard work unless youve got someone with you that knows what they are doing. i still wish i was cammed, it was mean as ****. but my setup wouldnt have lasted long since my valves were burned and all of my valve guides were bent. 130# springs with no oil means harsh head damage.
with the cam it problew would be safe to run the 3.2. scratch the 1.0 pcm. go get it tuned by someone or go to overkill. and the cam is not all that easy to put in. if you dont get it right, theres gonna be alot of issues. but if you have someone that knows what there doing it problew wouldent be all that hard. no easy task tho.
Question I am going to get an IC for my car but wondered what to get. Is the one on ZZP for 1099 bucks the biggest? I hear ref to stageII or stageIII, but I never see those descriptions.
everyone says if your going to get an intercooler, dont waster your money on the shortstack, go with the full size. i dont know anything about stages
Skip the 1.0 pcm if your getting intercooled and rockered. Find someone locally with a tuner and buy some credits, Overkill has been known to get the tunes really accurate though if you can't find someone.
You don't need to buy a u-bend delete after you buy pacesetters. You don't need new wires, You won't need to buy new lifters, you won't need aluminum rockers after the xp cam. Sorry but that just saved you a lot of money!
Take it one step at a time, installing all that could leave you carless for a few days and if anything goes wrong it's going to be harder to troubleshoot with all of the modifications. To install a cam, you need the gaskets and a good mechanic to install it, you should also run 105# springs and get a new timing chain.
The most successful intercooler so far has been the ZZP stage 2. Buying the $1,000 IC kit online is kind of stupid though. You can find the stg 2 plate used for around $400. Then find a good heat exchanger. The more capacity, the larger, the better cooling it has. I'd go with this one: Air to Water Heat Exchanger
It has way more cooling capacity than zzp's stg 4 radiator and is in a way easier to mount, it looks damn good too!
Then just find a pump and hoses and connect. To get the air out of the lines, do something like this: ZZ Performance
The thickest best cooling IC ever made was the Thrasher, not the ZZP. Although theres hard to find nowadays, there the most efficent ever made and the proof is out there. And plus there 2.5"
The ZZP Stage 2 is 2.25" and its 2 aluminum plates
The ZZP Stage 3 is 2.35" (i think, there not a full 2.5") and they have an aluminum top plate, and a plastic bottom plate. There a piece of **** because the plastic bottom plate has a different themo expansion rate and they always crack eventully. Good and careful planning by Zooomer there.
The SSIC, I had one on my car, very unefficent in my opinion. A full sized IC will make the SSIC its *****. I had one on the black car, the small lines, noise ass pump, gay filler T and always heat soaked blower made effency to be desired for. After seeing how my custom Full sized kicked ass, I had to change that setup. All I did with that setup was install an ILGPC (Ron Vogels old core) core w/ 3/4" lines, GM pump, and a Cobalt SS Filler T w/ 5 psi cap... Night and day difference. Now the S/C actully stays cool, just like a GOOD IC should do. There test between the SS and the ILGPC is bull****, in the real world the ILGPC will out perform the SS hands down period.
I'd have to agree, I was kinda meaning the common IC that works well and can be had in the classifieds these days for relatively low price than anything new.
But here's the problem with the thrasher one:
Intercooler for 3800 Eaton M90 - Thrasher Engineered Performance
If you going for "sound" do a FWI. It will make it whine quite a bit louder.
alread got 1........
lol I just realized that.
