The problem is going from the second to the first.
Its such a step backwards in some regards, yet miles ahead in others.
Third claims it will restore some of those lost features from the first.
Regardless, you'll get the gist of it if you want the story thing.
Wait just a couple weeks and pick up Skyrim. It will most likely be the RPG of the year. For what you're looking for, my other suggestions would the Arkham city, Fallout 3, and Dragon Age 2. I have Fallout 3, and Dragon Age 2 for my PS3, both are great games. And I'm getting Skyrim for the PS3 rather then the 360.
i have fallout 3 (and new vegas) and dragon age: origins. i didnt like DA:O that much, even though i played through the whole game. that isn't my style RPG, really. i might have to look into skyrim (for reference, my fav RPGs are still FF7, breath of fire 4, chrono trigger...games like that).
so far it's looking like this for my choices: ME2, rage, arkham city. dark souls looks good, but it also looks crazy friggin hard and games that i have to die 1,000 times before i get anywhere frustrate the **** out of me. la noire looks good as well, but im not so sure the storyline will suck me in like the others.
Skyrim, 11/11/11 can't wait.
Seriously, If you've ever played an Elder Scrolls title before (the last two were Morrowind and Oblivion), you'd understand. Can't beat it when it comes to offline ARPG's. Storyline owns, the freedom owns, its great.
(I see you have played fallout, that is the same company who makes TES titles, Bethesda)
FO: NV Impressed me...way better than FO: 3
I played through all the add-ons too...pretty cool they ran the level cap up to 50...
Didn't know...
Out of all the RPG games I have ever owned, the Elder Scrolls games are the only ones I can remember not ever selling or trading in for something different. The games just have so much replay value, you can keep playing them again and again, and have a different gaming experience everytime.
it does look like a good game and i could probably make my way through it eventually, but it looks like it will take me some time to get used to and not die all the time. (dark souls)
elder scrolls i need to look into. looks slightly like dragon age as far as gameplay.
This. Exactly. It's endless fun, you don't even actually have to follow any of the story lines or quests and you will still be entertained for months to come. If it means anything, I have my 360 down at school and out of the 5 games I brought with me, two of them are TES 3: Morrowind for original xbox and TES 4: Oblivion for 360.
LOL Singstar.
P2S...

i refuse to buy that playstation move **** until they come out with a game worth playing with it. something like super smash bros or some ****.
im still not sold on the elder scrolls thing.....is it all free roam open world real time ****? the only rpg aspect is that you get experience and level up and gain new moves and items?
Yes, its open world free roam. It is NOT turn based combat or anything like that. The RPG part of it is that you can be anything you want really, mage, fighter, assassin, etc. They have a main story line for you to complete and usually like a dozen factions you can join and do their questlines as well. And they aren't repetitive quests where you "go here and kill ten of these" etc. They're all pretty unique. One of the cool things from Oblivion I remember was a faction called "The Dark Brotherhood" where you were basically a hired assassin, if you ever murdered anyone in game they would come find you and try and recruit you. And then you literally just got tons of sick quests where you have to kill people in particular ways. It's pretty awesome.
