This is a copy and paste from clubgp since I know some of you are banned from over there.
Woke up this morning and the wife and I were headed down to her parents to eat breakfast. I am a type1 diabetic, and my blood sugar apparently was VERY low. Anyway, I had a small seizure, my foot went to the floor and my wife did everything she could to try to control the car. We ended up driving into a restaurant.
Accident pictures taken by the ambulance service look like the bumper cover, hood and at least one fender.
Going up to the tow truck place in a few minutes to take a look at the car.
****. Sure hope that new frozenboost heat exchanger is ok.
On a positive note: My wife is fine. I am fine. Our dog that was with us is also fine.
Update later that day:
Ok, as far as needs:
Hood
Both fenders - little bit of massaging and then paint.
Bumper Cover
Headlights and parking lights
Another new frozenboost heat exchanger [:@][:@][:@]
Intercooler pump (fitting broke off of my ole flowjet.)
Radiator + fans
Cradle (GOOD local body shop says it is dented, but it is repairable easily)
On a positive note: Everything in the engine bay looks fine save for the radiator cooling fans. They were pushed into my headers, but the headers appear fine. Radiator support looks fine, but the radiator is definately bent.
Here are some pics:
Looks a lot worse in person, but it is fixable I. I have a month and a week before BGPM. This **** WILL be fixed. I refuse to miss it again.
One last note: if you are going to try to educate me on the disease I have had for over 10 years, save your breath. 99.9% of the time before I drive, my blood glucose is tested. For whatever reason, I failed to do so the morning of the accident. My wife told me and the EMTs and people at the hospital that I was acting completely normal that morning. Normally if my blood sugar drops dangerously low, she knows, as I more or less act like I am drunk.
I feel absolutely horrible, but at the same time I am thanking my lucky stars that I did not injure anybody. Only my car and my ego are hurt. The car is repairable, and my ego will repair itself over time.
Anyway - everybody stay safe out there. You never know when **** like this can happen.
