I have a movie that I want to burn to a DVD, in which I did. I played it back on the laptop and it worked fine. Went to try it in the DVD player and it won't work.

Facts - The movie is on an external hard drive. Windows media player is the burning method. The DVD is older and I'd tried to use it way back when and it didn't work. When I put said DVD in laptop, it came up as an empty disc, so I was assuming all was ok.
I have a new container of DVDs but I don't wanna open them if it's not gonna work in the DVD player.
Any software that I need or suggestions as to why its doing it?
Or should I just open the new pack and bite the bullet and burn it again?
(they were $20, so if it won't work and I can return them, that is why)

What format was the file you burnt to disk?
what software did you use to burn?
when you put the disk in the laptop, what file shows on the disk (right click, explore)

    1. ?? Type is Video Clip .avi?
    2. Windows Media Player
    3. When I open the disc file, the movie is the only one in the file.

I burnt some music videos to a DVD by using the windows dvd make which was a part of Windows Vista. Popped it into my cd/dvd player in my car and it worked. I didnt have the the scene options and such but it still worked.

You need to transcode the File to work on the DVD

Transcoding can take 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the computer

    Nero is what I use

Ive tried 2 converters and they both want registration codes or they put watermarks on the file.

do Nero or dvd shrink have to have a registration code?

Yes, most dvd burning software requires activation of some sort.

    Dvdshrink is free.

Try Handbrake its its a free conversion software lets u make dvd or format movies for ur ipod. Then download ImgBurn which is another free program that u can use to actually burn dvds. U shouldn't have to worry about registration codes or watermarks on the files.

You can still use it to put the files on your hard drive.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
