Hey guys, newb here. Im a high schooler looking for a first car. I found a 1997 Grand Prix GTP sedan for $2000. Clean carfax, no damage of any kind. I love the GTP's my cousin has a 2000 2 door model. The car I'm looking at has 130K, is that to much. TIA for your opinions!!!

sounds like a deal to me.

They are good cars, and have issues like ANY car, it taken care of and doing the maintence it should last a long while.

    I'd give the guy $1,800 bucks...but I'm a cheapass.

I just bought a pretty clean '98 GT Coupe with 112k on it and I didn't pay much more than that...

Sounds like a good deal. GP's are great school cars, especially 4 doors (if you have friends)

Well no one is going to want to be friends with you anyway if you drive a GP.

Sounds good to me, just double check the transmission as it is a 97.

the only transmission you gotta worry about is the GT trans, if its the GTP like you said, its the same trans from 97-02 and NON vacuum controlled.

When doing the test drive, be kinda hard on it and make you give it the beans a few times to make sure you test every single gear and make sure there is no slipping or hard shifts. Get it up to 70ish mph and make sure 4th gear works and the rpms are around 2k ish.
