Can somebody please tell me what "stem" or "stalk" of the rearview mirror looks like, or post a picture of it? the reason for this is that i found a nice way to mount the radar detector underneath the mirror. here is what im looking at for the ol v1:

Amazon.com: BlendMount Your Valentine One Radar Detector. Custom Mount for Your V1.: Automotive

I would normally just walk in the garage and look myself, but im still livin in germany, and my car is waiting for me back home. so if this will work out id like to order this soon so it will be waiting for me when i get back just after the new year. thank you for your time

Not so sure if it'd work.

I removed my RVM and mounted the V1 up top. Only can be seen with a real careful eye.

The stem or stalk would be the part that goes from the glass to the mirror housing.

That's a really expensive mount for what it is though.

I have mine mounted in the center of my dash at the base using suction cups. The cups don't hold all the weight because the dash helps support it. It's also less visible from the exterior of the car than a mid winshield mount.

Radar won't do you any good there. Line of sight, Guy.

Though this is a good position for detecting laser.

    Bad place for it too.

Blue tint strip if you have it can affect laser detection, And again, Line of sight. Best to set it where it can sit perfectly straigt, forward, and centered.

so.... nobody can give me a direct yes or no answer if that rearview mount will work???

radar detector placement has been a huge debate, but most things ive read have said that centered, either a little high or a little low, is the best spot.

High up is BEST for radar detection. (Provides the best saves with the most margin between bogey and yourself.)

Low is BEST for laser detection. (Which 95% of the time is just a ticket announcer.)
