    Hey everyone
Ya I'm new here andi have a question. On my 04 gtp there are numbers all over the parts of the car; sun roof, lights, interior parts, windows, etc.
Iv never seen this before. what are they? what are they for?
I googled the numbers and got nothing.

    any help would be great.

    thanks in advance!!

Are they acid etched into the glass? It's kind of like a theft recovery system. Those numbers are unique to your car, and if it were stolen, even if all the VIN plates were taken off the car, they could still ID it as your car...or parts of your car through all the glass.

The reasoning behind it is that glass can be expensive to replace in the whole car, so people might not be as likely to destroy all of it if the car is taken and chopped up.

on the glass they are ingraved into it. all the egine components look to have it ingraved by hand. I mean everything has the same number on it. i think in one way it is kool, but as for details it sucks.

    thanks Reptile

    Compare them to your VIN.

Not for free. You could maybe request something from the dealer and see if they give it to you.

I can pull up a service history on pretty much any GM vehicle in the last 10 years or so.
