Hey everyone, I have an interview as a writer for a local Magazine for GM enthusiasts, and I want to make Pontiac the center of my focus. I want to make this good, so I would like to get your opinions on how your Pontiacs are treating you. Not really what is wrong with it, I can get those stats anywhere. What I'm looking for is more along the lines of what you love about your Pontiac. To better explain this I'll give a personal example.

My name is William Fox. I've been a proud owner of two Pontiacs, a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, and a 2006 Pontiac GTO. I have felt ever since I have had a pontiac in my possession I have had nothing but love for Pontiac. Pontiac has done things right since day 1. Power, comfort, practicality, joy, and love of being an owner of a Pontiac.

That's just a small example. If this thread is moved I apologize for putting it in the wrong location lol. Thanks guys!!!

It seems to me that "features" tended to make it on Pontiacs a year or three before Buicks, Chevrolets, etc. which I dig.
Pontiac's "performance packages" seemed to always go a step further than similar vehicles. Ex: Competition Group
Pontiacs were slightly cheaper for the same or better stuff
Stock speaker setups were pretty consistently better than other vehicles in same price range
Pontiacs look cooler than their sister vehicles
They brought the HUD down from Corvettes to a family man's vehicle

A good place to check in on might be like... an f-body board.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

They're more expensive to insure because they are "sportier".

    Its a GM.

    That sums it up.

To be more in line with what youre looking for, I love the fact it starts every day.

Sporty features on my 2001 GTP always make me smile, retrackable sunroof, heads up display, heated seats, supercharged engine, leather seats, whats not to like.

Still can outrun most slackers in my area especially on the expressway, they think because my car is big they can smoke me, it's a gas to see their jaws drop when I kill them.

No offense to you, but I wouldn't use a dead make as an attention grabbing article unless you can find some way to make it fresh. Everyone has already covered the Pontiac thing as they stopped production.

That's my angle. I've got 4 things to cover, and this is part of it. Don't worry Pontiac will be back in one way or another though lol.

Pontiacs are in our family's blood stream for three generations, now. I can't imagine that I'll ever live without one (or more) in the garage.

My car is a head turner especially after i detail it.

It has enough power to get the job done ( not to say more power is not needed)

    Its easy to work on.

    Parts are cheap.

Insurance isnt too bad, just right.

I just enjoy this car until things go wrong of course lol.

Like the other 2 wbody's i've owned they did a great job building this car. I've noticed alot of manufacturers having recalls on brand new vehicles lately. being a 2008 and not having any is a blessing. sure recalls are free to be done at a dealer, but it's good piece of mind knowing my car was built correctly.

When I pull up next to someone in an Impala and just think how much better mine looks. For the price I've gotten one helluva car. Sure she is just a GT but for her size she can move pretty good. Sporty looks is great and for stock speakers they can get pretty loud! Chicks dig the car, even though its a grocery getta.

Yeah for sure! I agree with a lot of you too, I think Pontiac makes better cares, are cleaner for the price, and now that they went out of business they are doing us all a further favor by dropping all the prices. My GTO is actually worthless to a community due to a company going out of business, but I always look on the upside of things, and I bought it for $16,500. So, in short, Win-Win!! Thanks for all the support though everyone my interview will be among the better from all the feedback I got! Now to write the other 3 parts of GM I don't look forward to writing lol

Honestly if i had like 30k to buy a new car, i would just stick to the car i have.
Ok maybe a 08 GXP with all the SE stuff (i know not possible)! I'm in love with my car, i mean mine is
fully equipped. So leather seats, Monsoon, CD changer ect.
I love the sporty feel and look. The 3800 is just boss and a legend.
It IS GM. Just a shame they discontinued Pontiac sad sad.

How is my Pontiac treating me? Aside from a crank sensor and window motors after 120K which are both common ive had no other probelms (knock on wood).
Starts everytime, runs great, looks good and sporty, insurance isnt too expensive, the stock stereo is pretty good, love the HUD. Only thing i don't like is it doesn't handle that great....but what 3400 pound FWD car does handle good?

Seems lots of Pontiacs have nice stereos. My GTP, friends G6 and my step mom's Vibe all have/had nice stereos in them.

The friend's G6. Also looks nice and sporty, runs great, doesn't have any problems. You'd swear theres a little 8" sub in the back.

Same thing with the Vibe...well.....it looked ok(before a deer lol)....but ran great and handled great too. Once again nice stereo...actually had the factory Monsoon system with the 8" sub.

Total Pontiacs we've had is probably over 10.

Well despite the 100k repairs and expected maintenace and the flex plate and axles, IT'S been great lol. I love having a sporty looking car that I can get into with leather seats that toast my buns, a HUD to keep my wandering eyes where they should be, and steering wheel radio controls are great, and I love the supercharged engine, it sure handles my road rage nicely. Not to mention the sunroof is excellent in the fall and spring seasons

That was a run on sentence btw.

Lol at run-on sentence. I forgot to mention it seems options on other cars are standard on Pontiacs. For instance in the Fbody family Camaros don't come with anything. No power windows, locks, mirrors etc etc where as in a Trans Am those are all standard. Just another thing to like about Pontiac.
