Straight from the Dept of Labor...i was wrong


Federal law does not require lunch or coffee breaks. However, when employers do offer short breaks (usually lasting about 5 to 20 minutes), federal law considers the breaks as compensable work hours that would be included in the sum of hours worked during the work week and considered in determining if overtime was worked. Unauthorized extensions of authorized work breaks need not be counted as hours worked when the employer has expressly and unambiguously communicated to the employee that the authorized break may only last for a specific length of time, that any extension of the break is contrary to the employer's rules, and any extension of the break will be punished.
Bona fide meal periods (typically lasting at least 30 minutes), serve a different purpose than coffee or snack breaks and, thus, are not work time and are not compensable.

No, the number of employees does not change how fairly they're treated, lol.

And yeah - meal breaks are not required to be paid. I think I might have been quoting PA labor laws when I spoke of the break for every 8 hours. They do vary by state.

And I checked OK... they don't mandate breaks in that state.
I checked PA... they don't actually require them either. Good to know.

Ya, Cheez-It, Family Size box to help get me thru, but its almost gone.... /sadface.

She said when she gets a chance she'd bring me some food, but yesterday and tomorrow she has class. So today and Friday I have to suffer. I may order a pizza for myself on Friday, like a boss. lol.

Oh and since I get paid overtime for the lunches and extra time early/late I give no cares, just long days. Payoff will be well enjoyed.

Try to get a pizza party approved so you can expense it as a company function. :th_thumbsup-wink:

LOL The boss is way to cheap for that. We'd have to all chip in for enough to cover all of us and himself before he would sign off on it. I'd just rather order me my own medium and pig out.

I try and tell them but they don't listen..

On a couple of occasions, I would pull my entire team for an after-hours job, get overtime approved for them, and expense a pizza dinner for them. I can't recall anyone ever thanking me, though.

I work a straight eight 7-3 no lunch its not bad at all.

Do a straight 10 tho, no lunch. 7:30-5:30

Went to the furniture store where my stepmom hooked me up with a job, real nice place. Met with manager dude he seemed nice. And I put in my application.

Right out of my garage, someone took my jack! It wasn't even a year old it was a nice $100 jack. I fckin hate Memphis you can't have anything for the damn thieves!!
