Fail post is full of fail.
So you make $100-220/wk as a burger flipper. -- That might qualify you for a $4,000 car if anything at all.
If your current ride isn't literally on it's last legs. Keep your car. Be independent and stop sponging off your parents, Your father is completely in the right here.
I don't flip burgers. Lemme clear that up. I've been working in professional food service for almost 4 years now. I'm an actual assistant chef like you see at a restaurant.
Independence is different. I always thought your parents were supposed to be there for you? I am good on paying back. That's no problem. It's just that I wouldn't be able to get an amount like that on my name. Even though once I turn 18 I will be making 1200-1400 a month.
parents? whats that? o you mean the free childrens labor. mine never helped with anything was out the house by 16 bouncing around for awhile. i feel it was for the best cause in 5 years i was ahead of most of my family. now im the only one who owns a house, cars, and can afford it. but remeber life isnt always about the materail things. its about being comfortable with where your at and what your doing.
I moved out of my mothers at 18 and moved in with my father, when i was living with him I paid for rent and half utilities and paid for the internet as I was the only one who used it. from the time I got my first job I paid for my own gas, insurance, and cell phone. My parents did help me with my first car, $500 a 1984 Chevy Tahoe S10. After I siezed up the engine I got the grand prix, my mother did co-sign on it but I had to pay every payment. She never once helped me even when it was either eat or make the payment. I never missed a payment on that in the three years I paid for it. But now that I'm living with my fiancee and going to school full time i'm starting to struggle, between trying to pay for bills/school/gas and maintenance on the car I'm stretched thin, plus she's in the process of finding a new job so I'm the only income..... very difficult at 8/hr. Not sleeping a whole lot, but hey, builds character.
If you can do it buy the dam car. Good god people. In HS I had a almost new MazdaSpeed Miata, book value was $16k with the miles @ a couple years old, My loan for 4 years was $14,200. $305 per month not including insurance. I made the payment and insurance and drove it like mad working 40hr/wk @ $8/hr and still had money to drink on the weekends lol.
