if your house doesn't have a forced warm air system, and instead uses like baseboard heat or radiators. Look into something called a "ductless split"
allows air conditioning to be added without needing to install new heating runs etc.

Yeah, we have forced air (propane) heat. So, I would think central air would be easy to add? All the ductwork is already there...or am I thinking wrong?
yeah, basically they install a compressor outside, run 2 lines into the house, that goes to a "A coil" in the top of the furnace plenum, done and done, lil electricity, new thermostat.
I would have to imagine adding central air is a good resale value where you are.
Yes, you probably are correct. Especially with as bad as the summers are going to keep getting.
But money is also a factor. I would imagine it would take a pretty large unit to even make it worth while cooling this place.
Idk how many sq ft, but its pretty good size.
yeah thats where the air filter is under the handler, sometimes they can be put in the garage with the furnace.
i used to get called out for roof leaks in houses all the time, and it was leaking with the sun shining out side and no rain for a week. smart people out there.
so i'd go up in the attic and find the drip pan full and over flowing due to a drain line clogged with sludge.
same deal with rtu's (roof top units). the drain clogs and it drips inside the store.
see we have basements LOL
utilities go down there, in a room ;)
This has been a really fvcked up day. Started off cool, my gmom come and took me shopping for curtains and crap, I ended up spending near $200 on all that junk.
So that's all fine well and good, we're puttin up curtains and doin mini blinds and such, get a call from my manager saying the owner (who popped in last night randomly) is furious with me, and the funny thing is I didn't really do anything wrong. So she proceeded to jump down my throat, on my minutes, on my personal cell phone, on my day off.
THEN I get a call from my Memaw, doctor confirmed she has sclerosis of the liver. SO yeah, goodbye good day at that point. I called dad, he just said clean out the beer in the frigerator lol. Good ole dad.
Yeah, dammit I just wanted a good pre-4th. I wanted to get my house perfect today, and I wanted my gma to be okay. But noooooooo
yeah same here lol, but if you live in a ranch style house you have to put it in the garage.
my split level house had the gas furnace and hot water heater right in the middle of the first floor, boxed in around the bottom of the chimney with a side of laundry room to boot, very tight in there lol
thats hot water heat, base boards around the rooms outer walls. but forced air is set up different, and it kinda sucks to, very dry heat, buy anyways the a/c would hook up to the heater, like to it and next to it if there is room to add it like in this case.
if they add the a/c to a house with hot water heat, (no ducts) that handler goes in the attic, a drain pipe is ran right above the soffit, at the bottom of the gutter, and drains into the gutter. and around here to hide the lines from the coils unit on the ground, they split a leader, and pop it around the lines to hide them, so it looks like a drain pipe for no reason. but better than just pipes.
im sure you've seen the show holmes on homes. love that guy, we're gonna make it right eehhh...
I'm sorry to hear that about your grandma Brando.
Hugs are sent your way.
Thanks *hugs*
yeah I've seen every episode of that show, some of the stuff he talks about is BS, the majority isn't lol
yeah see even ranch homes here have basements, we have to because of frost.
Look into ductless splits, way nicer then an attic air handler. theres a evaporator on wall in the room, lines run out to a standard compressor unit. done and done.
its funny how different and by our standards Unsafe US stuff is lol
meanwhile at times ours is overkill and stuff thats specifically canadian.
we got some new stuff here too, its a unit that mounts to the wall, they drill 2 hols for the lines to go out side, and the rest of the unit is out side the wall.
some ones getting rich off this stuff.
the slab of ranch homes have a 3 foot deep footer around the perimeter, so its frost safe. my split level was on a slab too.
most house's around me have basements, thats where all the dirty stuff happens when your a kid, he he he.
some of your codes should be taken and put to use here, like that plastic wrap and tape job before the sheet rock goes up to seal the house off. thats got to make your heat and a/c bills go down.
he does go over board, but my god, some of the stuff that he's found by just going 3 more feet is unbelievable for sure lol
his roofing crew is kinda over kill too. seen a bunch of flat roof jobs where they do a smooth torch layer, then the granulated layer over it. you just put 2 roofs on it,,,why?
and here in the north east area at least, you cant even get insurance to use a torch and install it any more, they want more than the job is worth. so every one turned to cold applied roofs, and back to good old hot tar.
being a ex roofer, for 20 years, yeah i've seen 3 jobs catch fire on us, never lost a building, 2 we caught and put them out, 1 we missed at the end of the day and well it burn up real good lol fire dept at 10 pm putting it out, and the ass ripping the next morning from the boss.
best part was the owners brother was the last one to work in the area that the fire started, I lmao in his face.
wait a minute.. YOU DONT HAVE VAPOR BARRIER?!?!?!?!?!?
WTF man.. that stuff is KEY to making the house more economical as far as heating etc, also help moisture movement etc.
for sure need some of our min code requirements!!!
oh and on a random note, 204likes lol
nope, not required at all here. it make so much sense to do it though.
and 151, still going from the 100 i left un checked. its slow when you dont post much nude stuff lol
I place $20 in a box.
So do you.
Now the box contains $40, and we both know it.
I sell the box to you for $30.
And we both walk away with a $10 profit.
Wall street math?
it makes perfect sense.
