Re: Thinking about another GP/beater cars in general
If it were a diesel! A friend of mine with a MKIV GTI just picked up a (barely) running MKII GTI for $500. I need something like that.
Re: Thinking about another GP/beater cars in general
Dont forget diesel costs a lot more...
Re: Thinking about another GP/beater cars in general
oh I know. I'd be willing to shell out more for a diesel though, 60 mpg's and a motor that runs practically forever are worth more to me.
My intent isn't exactly to save gas, I mean if I can I will, but my main goal is to no rack up miles on the scooby. If I found a good deal on an older civic or something I'd hypermile the piss out of it though.

Wezza the same. I'm not happy putting miles on the cobra. And I'm about to start ripping apart the old mustang when it gets warmer. So at this point I'm no longer waiting out for a GTP. GT, SE either will suit me now.
Re: Thinking about another GP/beater cars in general
I got really excited because I found a 99 GTP for $1000, but the guy doesn't have a title for it and he can't get a replacement because it was never in his name and he can't get in contact with the previous owner and all other kinds of sketchy stuff..Thinking about buying it and parting it out haha.

Why not put in for a lost title?

The title isn't in the guy's name who's selling the car, the guy that had the car before would have to request a replacement title but "he did some meth and ran off one day and no one has seen him for over a year" according to the guy selling the car.
Anyhow I called the title office earlier to ask about that and they said I would need to go to court and have a judge grant me ownership of the car. It's not worth the time/trouble/fees I'd incur so I'll just keep looking.
