Wife is looking at a 2000 GP GTX coupe. I was just woundering how rare it is, and what would be the current value with 160k on it?

    Thank you

rarity doesnt matter. its still just a grand prix. i wouldnt pay more than 4k for a gtp, with 160k miles id stay away unless it has maintanence history.

It is not going to raise the value of it.

I understand it is just a GTP at the end of the day, but it is a GTX which I can only assume is a SLP package. My main question is how many of them were made and how many were coupes?

Is it a gtx or just ram air hood? I paid the same price id pay for a regular gtp I didn't see it worth spending more cause of the gtx package...

It appears to be a true GTX. It has the correct door decals, in place of the GTP plaque that say "GTX ram air", and it had dual outlet chrome exhaust tips, and functional ram air

If it is a true gtx you should be able to check by the vin # and also there should be an slp gtx badge on the firewall by the master cylinder. I was trying to build a replica GTX and found out it just isnt worth doing because it doesnt add value to the car but everyone that has GTX stuff wants a small fortune for it, which would make sense if it made your car worth more. The GTX isnt like the FBody Fire Hawks or other special edition FBody cars. These parts where just sold by a seperate division of SLP automotive and sent to the dealer for them to put on. Mods that I know of are hood with Ram Air box dual tips are only part of the exhaust upgrade if you look at the mufflers they should have slp on them, the high lip spoiler, Badges on door and upper portion of the rear bumper cover just below the lip of the trunk, floor mats, Gauge cluster, Key FOBs, GTX racing stripes, 6 spoke 17" chrome wheels, smaller slp SC pulleyand thats all I know of. The bad thing about these cars is the lack of the consistency in them because they had dealerships put the stuff on instead of installing it at slp so there are variances in the width of the stripes and the placement of badges and stickers and things. So in short just have the vin checked but it isnt worth any more than a loaded GTP

Theres a sticker on the trunk lid of most gtx`s thats an easy way to tell, but they all didnt come fully loaded they had a bunch of different options from slp for the gtx you could order with the hood, or the hood and rims or hood, rims, and exhaust. But any package you got came with the badges. My gtx came came with everything but the sc, but im top swapping so it doesent matter. If you buy it ill sell you my gtx wheels

Maybe its the picture or its just me being tired but the hood looks like a slightly different shade of silver.

Thank you for all the replies. I think the car has dealer add on parts. The only SLP items there is are the hood and ram air intake, door decals, and exhaust tips.
I am not sure why one of you seemed to get aggravated. I was just asking if their was a known number of GTX cars built. I know over on the Impala SS forum, every known model has a known number of cars built. I just figured someone had researched it.

Either way, the car I am looking at for my wife is a 2000 GTP coupe, with every option including the GTX stuff. It has 160k on it, and the asking price is $2500.
The bad with the car is there is one rust hole in the drivers door jam. I did check, and it seems to be the only bad spot on the car. Even the pinch welds under the car are in good shape, with no rust under the car anyplace. So I would be looking at replacing the whole rocker. Which is easy with solid pinch welds.
The only other major flaw I seen is the front sway bar end link is broken.
I am thinking 2k would be a fair offer.
the only mod made is an aftermarket exhaust done at an exhaust shop.

If that is the car...where are the door emblems...? Those exhaust tips don't remind me of anything SLP related either. As for numbers...SLP I think has them and you can contact them to find out...but as for actual badging on the cars...no. Daytona Edition GP's had # plaques but that's it. And those are getting harder and harder to find that aren't just replicas. If you want something rare...find a Richard Petty Edition GP...in red. Good luck

The emblems are on the door in the spot where the GTP badge goes. They are almost a ghost emblem, as they are a light color, and do not show up in the pics. But they are there. The owner changed the exhaust last year with a exhaust shop built system with single outlet 3" tips.

They are so light, at first, I thought they were just the glue left after the decal was removed. I got a closer look to see the decal was intact, just very light. And yes, the tips have to go if we buy it.

    Ok.
So at the end of the day it turns out to be a GTP with a GTX hood and decals. But still a good deal for the price, so my wife bought it.

Speaking as a former owner of a "true" SLP GP GTX. I can say these things.

    1. Skip checking the VIN. Look in on the inside of the driver side door, you should see a SLP Sticker with a number from SLP stating if it is truly an SLP created product. That is the quickest way to check. The VIN number is only going to show that is a GTP. I know this from checking with my Insurance company. It comes up ONLY as a GTP, nothing mentioned about my car being a GTX.

    2. That hood shown in the photo I do not believe is an original SLP hood, it's hard to tell from the air vents, but they do not appear to be the exact same configuration as the SLPs model. Meaning at the ends of the vents there should be one hole at each end to hold the vent screens in place, but I can't quite see them.

    3. Looking at the rest of the car, nothing else appears to be modified in the SLP GTX scheme of things, no exhaust, badging or anything else.

As for your offer, I agree on the max you suggested. I would even go a bit lower and see what they say.

Either way good luck with your purchase
