Now this is a transmission in my opinion. Watch the video of it being tested.

Maybe nobody has replied since we dont know what a "Transmissioin" is lol That looks pretty wild though! I like the idea much better than the CVTs use and they never seemed like they could take a lot of power by design.

    Man, busted for spelling.

Yeah, I absolutely DESPISE the CVT's and refuse to own a vehicle with one in it. But I will be looking out for one of these IVT's.

CVT is Constant Velocity Transmission. I believe Honda/Toyota may use it, I know Ford uses it in a couple vehicles. You'll know you are in a vehicle that has one when you are accelerating and you feel no shift jolt or drop/change in rpm.

I don't like CVTs (continuously variable transmissions) because of their weaknesses, but the idea is the same as the IVT. Imagine you stomp the gas, RPMs go to the peak of your power band, and it stays that way throughout acceleration. No shifting, no more worrying about high end or low end.

Wow what a nice break through
    Looks very promissing..
    Can't wait to see more...
I wonder how it will hold up to a heavy mod car
    and under track conditions ...?

With that kind of load balancing as it were, I would imagine it could hold up to power adders as well as a manual tranny.

Could you imagine the MPG gain by keeping the RPMs below 1300 on the highway?
