Depends on how much money you want to spend....Z3 shifters from passport will run you about 800 bucks, but it will temporarily shift the laser and give you time to slow down. The cheaper ones just let you know that you've been tagged.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

They are worth it to me on the radar aspect of it because i picked up a 10 dollar laser/radar detector off of craigslist last year and its worked out beautiful for the radar detection when an officer is stationary or moving...it sucks for laser though. Radar sends a wide beam that the radar detector can easily pick up but for a laser to do its job it has to hit a physical point of your vehicle that by the time the laser hits your car and the radar detector goes off its too late. My theory is to never just trust the radar always be looking out because it could take a crap that time and you end up getting a ticket.

I've had my Escort 8500x or whatever (in blue) for about 5 years now and have never gotten a ticket for speeding with it in. If you know how to use it, it can be great, but expect to spend at least $250 for a decent one, and check reviews.

I have a "cheap" Cobra one, only cost $200. Just like everyone said, just let's you know when you get hit but if other cars are being gunned too then you will have a heads up and time to slow down. It's saved me many many times, I think they're worth it.

It really depends on how the cops in your area use their radar. If they use it incorrectly and just leave it on all the time you should be good if you use a detector that can detect all bands (I got busted in Iowa because they use a band my detector can't detect). However, if they click it on when they see you, you're ****ed even if you have a detector because you have no time to slow down. Luckily for me the cops in MN use the K/Ka bands and leave it on all the time. The only time I've gotten a ticket in MN is when I didn't have my detector, it's saved my ass countless times. Not sure how much it cost new, I got it for free from a friend who didn't use it, who got it from his dad who didn't use it lol.

They're also fun to use to check to see when cops actually clock people, and to test their limits when they know how fast you're going. I once passed one clocking me going 72 in a 55. Didn't even look at me.

You could just save the money by no buying one and speeding too. When a cop does pull you over and they see the radar your getting a ticket for sure, and if they use laser your for the most part sol. Just my .02cents

    Or...not?

And I've been pulled over plenty of times with the GXP and the cop has clearly seen my radar, and guess what? No ticket.

The only part of this I agree with is the laser part. You're screwed if the cop has a laser. Those things detect speed exponentially faster than radar. So hypothetically speaking, even if they ever come out with a detector, not only would it cost an arm and a leg, chances are, it won't even help.

That's what sucks, the cops are starting to get these lasers, and you know what happens when they all have them in a few years?

    **** will get real.

    ****ing Europeans.

Mine cost $27 on 1saleaday.com and has saved me from countless tickets. May not be even remotely close to "good." But it works for the most part.

Depends on how you use it mang.
