OK I'm a little new to this whole thing, I've just started to add stuff to my car. Got chrome grill inserts in the mail and i'm ordering my exhaust next week and prolly a cai the following. I'd really like to get a tuner, but I can't find one for the life of me. I have the 02 grand prix gt with the nonsupered 3.8. Anyone know where i can get a tuner? Help would be well appreciated lol

You could buy a DHP Powrtuner from someone if they're selling it, or a HPTuner.

Be careful though. You sound like you don't know much about tuning... It's very easy to grenade your motor with the wrong settings.

Like Savrewings said either DHP or HPT. DHP can only be bought used from someone who already ones one. DHP went out of business. As far as which one is better I don't know. Each of them have files that the other one doesn't. I believe a DHP might be a little cheaper to pick up. Also don't let Sabrewings scare you away from a tuner. There is a little bit of a learning curve but well worth the effort in the end compared to a mail order pcm.

I picked my DHP up for half the retail price.

Wasn't trying to scare, only caution.

The tuner has a huge learning curve. Some people spend a lot of time and gas trying to get their tune right. May I suggest an Ovekill PCM. You would be hard pressed to find a custom tuned PCM via mailorder better than Will's. My guess is the PCM you'd receive from him will be hands down better than what some the the amateur tuners spend countless hours and gas trying to perfect.
You can do some reading over at HPTuners.com >> Performance At Your Fingertips and then decide later if you want to fool with all of the different aspects of doing your own tuning.

I have friends that know what theyre doing, so i dont have to worry much about messing up the car. And i did a google/ebay search for DHP and couldnt find anything, and i'm not really ready to drop $500 on the HPT tuner i found. I'm really not looking to program stuff myself, i just want some preset tunes to get me going.

DHP is out of business, so you won't find any on an official site. I got mine off a forum member at NAIOA for $200.

If you just want a good preset tune, go to Will at Overkill Motorsports (he is on this forum under the name WillOverKill). His tunes are the best mail order ones you can get. And I think he has good deals on updates as you continue to mod your car.

The nice thing about the Overkill PCM, is it isn't a generic PCM, You send him a list of your mods and he builds the PCM, based on the info you give him. I've never heard of anyone unhappy with an Overkill tune.

That is something I didn't know. You really can't go wrong with that then. One the other hand if you plan on doing quite a few big mods to your car you might be better off picking up a tuner now and starting the learning process.
