Hello, I just now registered with this forum. Im a little lost. I don't know if i should even be posting in this topic. I currently drive a 1994 3.4L Camaro with quite a few mods. I wanted a 2002 Camaro SS 6 speed for a while. But now the dealership has a 2008 Grand Prix GXP Sedan 5.3L v8 for sale. Im thinking about getting it. My concerns are. Does it have Active Fuel Management? Is it reliable? Is it fast compared to a Camaro? Ive searched everywhere. My biggest concerns are the AFM and reliability. College coming up... Speed is one thing... Reliability and annual cost for fuel is another. All I can say is. If I do get this GXP. I will be posting pictures of it. And Treat it like solid gold. Just tell me point blank if im making the right decision. Thanks in Advance to All

camaro is faster than the gxp hands down.

Im pretty sure it has the fuel management system, they can get 23-27mpgs freeway and decent city mileage too.

they are good cars. It always about how to treat it. If you drive around like a 15 year old with a hard on all the time, the tranny will blow up in no time. But if you drive it nice it will last.

its fwd 5.3L v8 power with around 300hp to the crank.

A GXP will blow the doors off a V6 camaro, and is only a LITTLE bit slower than a SS, ive beaten an 2010 SS 6SPD because he couldnt get enough traction(twice). I love my car and its very reliable. I get about 20 mpg city and 30 hwy with intake. Also consider this is a 3.8L SC heavy site so they will hate on you for ever going with a GXP. I say get what you like if you like it and not what they think. With a couple of exhaust/ air flow mods you should be able to get 13.5 in the 1/4 on a good run which to me is decent. But if you go with the SC v6 you can make it faster for cheaper, its all preference.

If this GXP was RWD i'd take it. the AFM wasnt a big thing. But RWD in Ohio when it snows is awesome. and summer time is drifting season. Back to the drawing board Im not really looking forward to going from 94' camaro to 02' ss. but... i havent found anything to compete. please dont say mustang. lol
