I honestly think it's pretty pathetic when it comes to the point of actually blocking out websites to keep yours intact.

This is good stuff! Trannyman95 and GR8racingfool are a damn good start to having technical guys around.

I think you will start seeing more guys with technical experience show up... I still go the other site, but don't post nearly as much as I use to.

...i have no quarrels with clubgp, but the idea of having a more 'open-minded' on more vendors, ideas, and innovation is what myself and others look for rather being held back or prohibited from advertising one's business to suggesting a new way of modding. when this site grows to the levels of what members here sought for, it'll get interesting

More than anything I think it's just that vendor fees were astronomically high and the penalties for advertising products for sale so severe. Often it's much easier to plug a product in a relevant thread than create a for sale thread, but even then you can only offer a certain number or whatever their rules are.

I'm looking forward to a more open-minded forum with fewer "disappearing topics" and a more relaxed policy for vendors. Farnsworth and Trannyman are both great assets to the board and it's only getting better. I hope this place takes off.

Me too. I think you will find, ultimately, that things will be more relaxed here overall. But thats not to say there wont be rules, but I dont think you will see such hard line tactics.

Wonder what would happen if I placed this as my website link in members profile section?

Course I could really yank their chain a little bit and put a link to Regalgs in my sig for a while, then after a week when no one is looking change it. Can we block Mike's IP from this address?

I wont be one to tell you something that could potentially get you banned..BUT..I had a link in there since I first became a member and they have yet to say anything or take any action.

With that said, do only what you are comfortable with and be prepared for any resulting consequences. We'd love to see this place to grow but I don't want to pick on or bash the other site. This place was started to give the community a choice.

Which I fully understand, what makes it funny is that ClubGP allows links to Regalgs.org, or wbody.com and the like, but for some reason they feel threatened by this site more then anyother.

That and since I use multiple IPs to check things it would be difficult for them to ban me.

Ahh, well, you are one up then. I cant do so from work, so Im banned from there at work, but at home I can still get on and see what people are saying if anything. I used to post there maybe 10 - 20 times a day. I bet I havent made 5 posts since this site went up.

Of course I have more of a stake in this site. If I were to assess the fear of the other site towards this one it would simply be because they realize that there is now a viable choice to the community whereas the other site has been pretty much the only one out there. Yes there are a few other sites but they haven't seen the traffic that the other site has, at least not that I am aware of.

As well I believe the other sites motivation for existence is wildly different than ours and so their actions will reflect that motivation and will move them towards that, as will ours. Only time will tell if we are on track. I personally believe we are.

The success of this site, though, depends largely on its members. It depends on them spreading the word. It depends on them contributing to the site, posting, adding information that the rest of the community is seeking or desires. I cant stress enough that if you are doing a project, document it. Take pictures, write detailed information about the procedure. This has a profound impact.

I am perhaps something of an information junkie and since I love my GP and love mod'ng it, guess what site I will frequent. Yep, the one with the information and the expertise from the community that I am seeking. On my portable hard drive I keep with me, I have over 600mb of how to's, pictures, information and so on all pertaining to the GP. I have worked very hard to convert a lot of the scattered about how to's and such to downloadable document form, pdf's and so on so that I could share with the community. Some of the how to's everyone may be familiar with, others not so familiar but all of them have been put into a format that is easy to keep with you and to share.

So I say to you all, if you have something to contribute, no matter how small, go for it and post it up. YOU make the difference here, not necessarily me. Im just an organizer and something of a referee but YOU, the members of the community make the difference here.

Well that sucks and Im sorry to hear that. I guess what bothers me about it, is that their ad revenue is based on the number of users, traffic, hits, that sorta thing. Well if they go around banning people, they're kind of shooting themselves in the foot.

Though I realize that they feel they have to do something, but lets get real for a minute. People know how to search, members talk to, PM, email one another and so word was going to get out one way or another. Are they going to ban everyone that wants a choice? Are they going to ban everyone that visits another site other than their own or talks about it? If so, then they are truly shooting themselves in the foot. If it is indeed the money that motivates them, which I dont know one way or another, then they are just hurting themselves.

I signed in under my girlfriends user name, and looked in the member only section for advice and tips to make it a better forum section.

I find it amazing that this section went up, soon after I was banned. I think Mike realized that he made a few people upset by the whole deal, and now hes trying to make pease with everyone. That 9 page thread that Swash made up is just amazing! I should print all that off and keep that in my scrap book LOL.

You all are great who posted.

But it makes me wonder why it was locked in the first place. They should make one final post stating why this thread was locked, and then do it. Instead of just doing it ya know. I'm just surprised that they didn't "move it" like they do all the other ones they done approve of.

Oh well. I like it here, and thats all that matters.

That club ideas section went up the day this site went on line. I will be curious as to how long it takes for any of the suggestions to be put in place.

By the way, Im glad you are here and more importantly like it here.
