Actually.. Not true, your facebook, forums, myspace, ect any kind of interent social life, reflects just as much as your personal life does. I've known a few people who've been in serious trouble for there internet actions.

My local police force actually fired a few cops for their facebook accounts.

When people run backround checks, they actually check out that kind of stuff to.

A forum is pushing it, but the facebook and myspace are main.

When I was at a training command, there were Sailors who were taken to NJP after posting on Facebook/Myspace admitting to drinking underage. While the fleet hasn't gotten that fervent about it yet I can see it coming eventually.

(For the civvies: non-judicial punishment (NJP) is where a member of the military is punished by the commanding officer, which can include loss of rank, loss of pay, restriction to base, etc. It's less severe than a court-martial, but still very serious.)
