Yeah thats what im thinking my car was built to order, not one that was sitting on the lot already because im pretty sure that the cd player w/ equalizer, leather int, sunroof, and hud were all part of an option package and my car only has 2 of those

Other than that, to answer Soviets question, most all 97-98 had the DIC-HUD wiring, except for rare occurances.
Some 99's have the wiring, others dont. Its hit or miss.
2000+ do NOT have HUD or DIC wires in the dash. No matter what trim, option, or color GP it is, if it is a 00+ it will not have the wires. No need to make a detailed list.
And as mentioned earlier, DIC's are compatible as follows:
97's compatible with 97's only
98-02 are interchangeable
03's stay with 03's (because of the optional traction control, and the general differences of the 03 PCM.)
I guess he has finished the list or what ever it will be called. If no one wants to add anything,it may be made to be a sticky or just closed. Thanks for the input ,hope this has help a few people

In order to maintain validity of polling owners to create a list.... my 2003 GTP did not have a HUD installed, but did come with the wires/plugs, which is contrary to Super Sport's post....
Bottom line, it only takes a few minutes to check, just look in your car to see if you have the wires if you are interested in installing the HUD.
Re: what model of gp's have the hud wires
Ok then create a list. That is the first time I have heard of anything newer than a 2000 having wires in the dash. I dont know what the hell GM's concept is then.
I will change my theory to just check your car for the wires before ordering HUD/DIC to install.
Sorry to misinform.
Re: what model of gp's have the hud wires
I know after a certain point GM stopped putting the lights in the front doors... The wiring just disappeared but the reflectors stayed the same.
Yet under the hood I have a connector for an A.I.R. pump but no pump.
There really seems to be no method to this madness.

This is looking more and more true.
Re: what model of gp's have the hud wires
So how would I check if my 2000 GT 4 door has the wiring or plugs?
And is it pretty hard to install? Would really like to get a HUD into my GT, think it looks badass. Oh and how much can I expect this to set me back?
Re: what model of gp's have the hud wires
You can install both without the wiring, but youll be doing a lot of splicing. I installed my DIC without plugs.
But to check, just remove the bezel that goes around your radio and gauges, and look for a spare plug behind the DIC, and check behind the gauge cluster and in the opening where the HUD dimmer switch would go and there should be a empty switch laying there.
