well, local gm dealer got 2 chev cruzes in this week. Went there yesterday as I wanted to check out the new car. got to test drive the LT turbo+ model as the LTZ turbo was being hoisted up on the scafolding for display. Anyway it was a short drive, as I am in no position to get into a new car. I did not scrutinize very much but it is a sweet ride, tight, no creeks, big trunk (although I don't like that the trunk does not have struts but those old space eating "legs"). The torque from the little turbo kicks in low in rpm range so when punching it u get going right away. Interior is very nice, only thing on interior I would "critisize" is the fabric on the dash, I would think it would collect dust and be a little dificult to vacuum clean but that is a little on the petty side. Anyway the cruze is a car I would deffinately get into if I had enough reasons to. Though I would share.

They are a sharp car. But I think an SS version is the only way I'd see myself in one. Which as of now none are planned. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Caprice to become a civilian car.

I LOL at Chevy trying to use D.I. on a engine that small. It's a 1.4 liter 4 banger...even though it is turbo'd AND IC'd...my N/A 2.2 Ecotec 'Balt makes more power and gets just as good MPG's. Boost it...and it makes twice the power...and still get about the same MPG's. It wasn't a good move on GM's part. Now, what I WOULD like to see...is IC Hard Piping, a boost controller, intake, exhaust, E85, and a tune on that thing...see if you can make 200 FWHP.

well, blue, it aint all aobut power. If that is what one is after there will be aftermarket kits and yadda yadda to slap on the cruze. If the power a car makes is enough to make it competitive and also get the mpg's then why demand more. My GP has 200 hp, yeah it could have more but I am satisfied with what it has, if I wasn't then I would mod it heavily. That being said I am sure (cross my fingers) and SS cruze will show up sometime, would be silly for chev not to do one, nissan has the se-r sentra, toyota has the srs, mazda may come out with a mazda 3 again, so chev would need an SS to compete but all that said (at least where I'm at anyway) there are NOT many se-r's or srs corrolla around. the most popular corrolla is the CE and it has 133-6 horse or something like that. a company will produce a version of a car that the mass wants, it needs to make money after all.

The Corolla and SE-R aren't even competitive anymore with the SS, SRT-4, MS3, GTi, etc...they aren't "hot hatches" or coupes...I understand 100% it isn't about the numbers...but what I'm saying is that why would you go through all the pointless research and R&D to make a small forced induction engine that doesn't do any better than a wel designed higher displacement N/A 4 banger? I think you missed that was the point I was trying to get at. Just like the old Geo Metro...that 1.whatever 3 cylinder that made 75 horse in that thing...mated to the 4 or 5-spd...netted nearly 50 mpgs...hybrid wut?

I think the cruze is a good step in the right direction for the company, not a bad looking car, could appeal to younger audiences but is tame enough for older folks to enjoy. Overall a great looking car.

You're right about the fabric on the dash, I work at a GM dealer and drove one shortly today and that's one thing i didn't like I can see it collecting a lot of dirt that would be hard to vacuum up
